New Persians Announced

Both are nice.

But the red really grabs my attention....and will doubtless grad my wallet.

As asked before, will these be normal production or sprint?

Good golly, I'm going to have to get a PO Box. Better half says no mas but I can see I won't be able to control my habit!

I've been wondering about this too... from the original thread on Spyderco forums for some reason I seem to get the impression that the G10 version might be a "Limited production" item instead of a sprint run. Or maybe I'm just reading too much between the lines...

definitely gonna have to pick up one of the bolstered versions and I may even throw in an ffg model just for good measure;)

I'd say reading between the lines is about all we can do right now. Our original request was for a Sprint Run. Sal responded to our plaintive cries with, not one, but two versions. However, to the best of my knowledge, he has never defined the production scope of either. Both versions, if you read the captions on the photos Kristi posted, have "dash 2" numbers. Based on other recent Spyderco numbering, that could indicate they will be more than just Sprints. Or, it could be a major red herring. I, for one, am happy just to see the bolstered version at all, but would be ecstatic if they both remain in the lineup.

WOW, thats the first Ive seen those, they both look AWESOME!!!!! I will get the G10 version, mark my words.

first post in this forum and looks like great timing. that red g-10 with bolsters is beautiful :thumbup:
would love to get a hold of one.

For any Canucks who don't know, these are now available to pre-purchase at our favourite Canadian online store. ETA late Sept./early Oct.

I have to say, considering how gorgeous and interesting these look, I'm surprised at how little pub they're getting. I have to admit that I only just now discovered them when I tripped over the announcement on W&W's homepage a few minutes ago. I pounced, and I'm not really a big fan of Persian designs. But these look so ergonomically comfortable, and the red G10 next to those bolsters looks amazing. Yet another beauty to pass the time with until the M4 Military drops.:)

I was just about to inquire about a price point for the bolster-less edition, but then I noticed that the pocket clip is not swappable. For an ostensibly "uglified" handle material, passing on a few clip holes and perhaps a mirror image clip seems silly.

I still may want this knife, but I would like to see some formal reviews.

FYI price wise I'm getting under $145 for the bolstered with red G-10 and $130 for the black FFG.

I think the black G-10 one would look much better in something like, oh, jigged / grooved black paper micarta? I'm sure Paul (Deacon) will have something to say about it. I don't care about the pocket clip, in fact I might even remove mine and get a pocket sheath for it. I missed out on the original Persian run, I'm not making the same mistake twice. :D

I don't like FFG version. It looses a lot of "persian style" in my opinion..

Well, to me, it's the lack of bolsters, rrather than the grind, that makes it lose "style points". This one's been given the FFG treatment by Tom Krein and, to me at least, it still retains the "look".

To me, the lack of bolsters makes the G-10 verison looks more like a Mini-Chinook than a Persian. But that didn't stop me from putting one on pre-order. :o
