New Persians Announced

I don't like FFG version. It looses a lot of "persian style" in my opinion..

Well, to me, it's the lack of bolsters, rrather than the grind, that makes it lose "style points".
To me, the lack of bolsters makes the G-10 verison looks more like a Mini-Chinook than a Persian.

Paul

For me original C83 Persian is the perfection, which is difficult or even impossible to improve, so grind as important as as bolsters and everything else. I love good-looking knives. Gorgeous Persian blade will not look gorgeous anymore. FFG Persian will look like Chinook-light. I have few original C83, will buy at least two red with bolsters and will pass on FFG black G10.

... I'm kinda in the other boat here. While I have my original C83, I will probably pass on the red bolstered version, but will more than likely pick up a couple of FFG G10 dedicated users.

I'm also a fan of the original grind and bolsters. I've got a red one on order, but may pass on the G-10 version. Too many other knives vying for my few $$$.

The handle ergos look great on the Persian, but how does it actually feel in the hand? I haven't had my mitts on one of those yet.

Feels great in my hand. If you've handled a Stretch, Atlantic Salt, or the most recent version of the 93mm Rescue, you'll find it feels very similar.

FYI price wise I'm getting under $145 for the bolstered with red G-10 and $130 for the black FFG.

I think the black G-10 one would look much better in something like, oh, jigged / grooved black paper micarta? I'm sure Paul (Deacon) will have something to say about it. I don't care about the pocket clip, in fact I might even remove mine and get a pocket sheath for it. I missed out on the original Persian run, I'm not making the same mistake twice. :D

I like the grippy G-10. I am looking at this model in a purely utilitarian context, and a textured handle suits my needs a bit better. I haven't handled a Persian, but the ergonomics look exemplary. I really like large index finger cutouts on designs.

That said, I may just make a sheath like this one for it:

Just picked one up this morning at the SFO, Fit and Finish are Top Notch. Wicked Sharp, and the Red G-10 is just awesome looking, set off really well with the chrome clip.

Are these specs right?I thought they had a 3.5" blade.

* Blade Length: 3" (77 mm)
* Overall Length: 8-1/4" (209 mm)
* Blade Material: Hollow-Ground; VG-10 Stainless Steel
* Handle Material: Red G-10
* Made in Japan

:eek: I was expecting a C83 Sprint, not a mini persian.

Can anyone confirm?

As per a spyderco forum member with knife in hand this is a LARGE Persian.

He also stated the clip is so shiny, it appears chromed.

It should be in and ready to ship by the end of September.

Personally I'm not too crazy for the shape and design, but there is no doubt that the usual Spyderco quality is there and the folder will not disappoint.

UPDATE:

I just made a call to verify what i was told last. Now it's early to mid October.

Quoting what was said earlier, I hope that the KnifeCenter made a mistake when they listed the specs.

I am wondering if they made a mistake in quantity of 700. Usual Seki Sprint is 1200+
