just sayin' that a higher end stainless would be more interesting. i'm not too impressed with the 440 grades.

Thanks for posting Dave. I dig it. Fishing kits or butt capsules? Gimmicky, a possibly life-saving fire steel? Not a bad idea! :D

Just a quick query or 'what if' toward the new LS model.

Any chance the sheath for it will be designed so the pouch from the ESEE 5/6 sheaths can be used on it?

if im lost in the wild with only this knife, how do i unscrew the scale to get to the fire rod ?

You should pull out your other ferro rod you already have. :D

If they use flat heads like on the HEST, some folks would use a small washer on a lanyard as a screwdriver. If it's allen then you'd need an allen wrench somewhere, maybe on the back of the sheath. But at that point you might as well have an extra ferro rod on the back of the sheath. :D

Stuff that requires tools usually makes me think "Instead of the tool I could just carry the item I'm trying to access" but I like the idea.

same for me, like the idea.. live saver in the handle.. i'll find a way to get there if im about to die of the lack of fire.. also if im lucky enough to get lost with the knife! Carrying an external and internal fire rod will cover it all (loosing the external one) :D
 
Wow... I can't wait for the LS!!! looks sweeeeet!

The stainless 4 has bumped the regular 4 down a notch on my to-buy list.. :)

loving this blade :thumbup:

never cared for the hollow handle thing, if your going to carry a small allen wrench to take the scales off why not just carry the ferro rod out side the handle in the space the allen wrench would of been. so your never have to fumble with getting the scales off.

thought we were told to quit taking the scales off anyways :D

:cool: wonder what kind of sheath it will come with?
 
I read through the whole thread and didn't see any pricing.
Sorry if I missed it, but is there a price on the stainless 4 yet?
