higher end stainless are way overrated - or let me put it in another way:
excellent heat-treats are way underrated ...;)

If they use flat heads like on the HEST, some folks would use a small washer on a lanyard as a screwdriver. If it's allen then you'd need an allen wrench somewhere, maybe on the back of the sheath. But at that point you might as well have an extra ferro rod on the back of the sheath. :D

Stuff that requires tools usually makes me think "Instead of the tool I could just carry the item I'm trying to access" but I like the idea.

I would think the ferro rod in the handle should be a bit of "just in case" insurance. Good to know its there, but only access it if your primary gets lost perhaps. (Two is One)

Besides, I would be the lucky one to promptly lose the scale fasteners in the bush.

to be honest, im not really digging the laserstrike. seems like a kind of awkward handle to me.....but that just means i have to get it to find out what makes the knife shine that im missing( same thing happened with the 5, first i didnt like it, now its my favorite)
 
i'm not a huge fan of the look either, but i'm almost certain i'll change my mind when i start seeing posts with pics of people using it out in the bush.
 
I like the laser strike, but I really dont like the look of the bow drill hole in the handle, I hope they give the option to order them without.


Im so freaking excited about the stainless 4 though.:cool:

any ideas if the laser strike will be offered also with a full now hollowed handle and tang? great looking knives..
