I agree. I wonder if the choice of steel with this dealer exclusive resulted from a dealer request. The description of the exclusive by the dealer suggests this. Hopefully CS will use uncoated xhp in future offerings.yep. much rather have xhp over s35vn. love it uncoated, but not the steel id have picked. so be it......
Awe man, they did not fix the plunge grind/sharpening choil on the TantoFYI folks, just came across this on instagram. Looks like CS released a dealer exclusive Recon 1 in S35VN and SATIN FINISH! (im not associated with any one...)

S35Vn is a nice upgrade.Too bad their not DLC coated.
Correct.S35vn isn't an upgrade. It's an equal, if not a downgrade from XHP.

Sorry to break it to you, but DLC does NOT help against corrosion, complete myth. Read up about it and you will see it's been discussed at length.Depends on how you look at it, S35VN is slightly more corrosion and wear resistance. On the other hand, CTS-XHP has slightly better edge retention and steel hardness.
I have a Code 4 CTS-XHP with a satin blade, after a bit of storage developed a few rusty spots and that is why I like my CTS-XHP DLC coated.
That s my understanding.Sorry to break it to you, but DLC does NOT help against corrosion, complete myth. Read up about it and you will see it's been discussed at length.
