New release: Recon 1 in S35VN & SATIN finished

kind of unfortunate and I know it voids warranty. I am a produce manager and french cutting vegetables constantly with my s35vn recon. I must know my knife is clean. upon first disassembly I found rust in the pivot hole (coarsely machined) of the knife even though I kept my knife oiled constantly.. Put it all back together and disassembled 2 weeks later to find more rust.

Many people who cut moisture based food and sometimes rinse their blades off don't realize sometimes a bit of water or juices from food can creep down into the pivot under the scales. If left to sit there you will definitely get some rust no matter what steel you're using (apart from H1 etc.) always try rinse blades with the tip pointing at the ground so the water runs away from the pivot - not saying you don't know this already but just in case, it's a handy way to stop unwanted dripping into the pivot.

It’s going to take something pretty special from cold steel to kick this out of my pocket.

I saw this picture just about 15 minutes ago and now I have the exact same knife ordered from Blades of Canada. I already have the XHP Tanto Recon 1 but the satin spear point looks sweet! Thanks!

Haha you're welcome, it's one of my all time favs mate, enjoy!

A question for any of the folks stateside ordering from Blades Canada (no “of” btw), how does the checkout process handle the exchange rates?

The payment option was PayPal and with shipping, it came to $131.17 USD. During checkout it was only shown in CAD on the site.

These are nice knives. I believe there are only 400 each of clip point, spear and tanto. I love my clip point version and the S35VN has performed as well as my other Recon and AmericN Lawman in XHP.

This was the question I was hoping someone could answer. Thank you. Anyone else have a model in both steels - I like what CS did with XHP but my only S35vn from them (SR-1) is a very different grind from any of my XHP blades.

I have Recon 1’s in both steels, but my XHP is serrated, so not a good gauge and I haven’t used the Serrated as much as the non-serrated 35vn.

I can second what SharpieB also said. Been using their XHP steel since the day it came out on my plain edge recons, and now also been using their S35 recons since the day they were released. All done the same hard cutting of various materials during house renovating, cannot tell a difference between the 2 steels, both perform great.
