NEW Strider Special Ops Folder vs. CRK Sebenza

You know why I like Strider knives guys? Because I have OWNED THEM!!!!!! I take everything that is said to me with a grain of salt. I don't believe everything that I hear. This is called being a "critical thinker". I shelled out the cash to buy the knives and I tested them for my self. The truth is, nobody comes close to the durability, the warranty, and the people that are Strider knives inc. They are expensive but so are the other custom makers out there and you get what you pay for. That can be said about almost everything in life. But don't listen to me. Try them yourself or shut the **** up.

BTW, Mick's a businessman so he does make a profit off of these knives. It's not a huge profit though. He's not living in a mansion, his shop is tiny, and he drives a Dodge Ram!!! He's in this business because he loves what he does. It's rewarding for him to see his knives in action. If you tell him that you have broken one of his knives, he will beg you to send it to him to see it. He gets off on seeing how much abuse his knives can take.

Mr. Strider, why not explain your quality system? Again I ask, why not tell us how you competed for this contract and won on quality/price and not inside contacts?

What makes you so special brownshoe! :p

WOW did we break this....the thread was 7 pages long when I posted and now it's down to 4 pages!

Don't get too mad, folks. The sidewalk commados at gun shops are far worse.

I've heard these guys keep repeating that 1911's are loose so mud doesn't jam them up. Nice urban legend, but even a smattering of research would curb that.

Browning invented his autos first for civilians. No mud. Maybe a tad of lint.

Modern CNC machines hold to very tight tolerances, and the 1911's run just fine. Of course, the commando relates hair-raising tales of his muddy nights in the DMZ where the his 1911 ran like a train.

Brownshoe takes his nick from the phrase 'the old brown shoe army.' These guys would be past 80 years of age. He doesn't know history, he obviously doesn't know Mick or his knives, and my suspicion is that he doesn't really know squat.

If he did, he would know that the army put a 'stainless steel piece' in one of their rifles. Hey, brownie, which one, what part, and why?

Brownie, I'm sure that Mr. Tourist meant brownshoe - not yourself.

I am however, curious as to the answer of his riddle.

HMMMM,

we are the trolls but its all of you who spout off all the insults and name calling to prove your points. How about a rational discussion?

We tried the rational discussion 4 pages back with you and your idea of a rational discussion was to change your fictional stories and opinions with every response, don't you remember that is why you were banned.

You pretend you know all the in's and out's of Strider knives and the Military's use of equipment but yet you do not post what makes you such an "expert". Are you a former employee of Strider or are you directly involved with Military procurement and testing of such equipment? Obviously the answer to both is a resounding NO! so STFU troll and go back to bed because you faggot lover Gary misses you.

Brownie, Govenment contracting is not secret unless its classified. If Strider's the best, and was proven so through competition, that's why Mr. Strider should tell us. However, if he got his contract as sole source due to the recognized capabilities of his company, Mr. Strider should be proud of this and say so. He could name his COTR (i.e. technical expert that believes he's the best) that chose his firm. Why not give us the contract number? We can look it up.

If Strider is best, why not describe to us his quality system? This would be to his advantage. I am proud of my firm's quality system and gladly tell people who ask.

But maybe Mr. Strider got a sweetheart deal. Maybe his quality system is non existent or dependent only upon final product inspection. That may explain some of his design problems and QC problems after the knife is in use. Warranty service is only part of a quality system. The goal is to deliver a good lasting product, not fix it after the end user has found problems. Sometimes Mr. Strider's silence is deafening.

Tell us military men, to get back to some of the origins of this thread, would you go into the field with a Strider off the shelf, or a Sebenza? CRK has won two Blade quality awards. How about a Benchmade or Mission, both proven firms with good quality systems.

Note: The handle Brownshoe comes from Frank Zappa.

They have a "black budget" that even the Congress and Senate can't review.
While the budgets of the "black ops" units & organizations may be well disguised, there are certainly committee members within the legislative branch that "review" those expenditures for the rest of the HOR/Senate. NOBODY gets past the PRESBUD, not even the steely eyed warriors and spooks of black operations.

If Congress doesn't fund it, you can hold a bake sale or car wash - or it doesn't get done. Secrets are tough to keep - just ask Oliver North.

Why are you guys even wasting your time answering these people. If you ignore them they'll move on to saving whales or huggingtrees and bunnies or some such.
Business is business, you dont owe them an answer.
As Rob said, the internet is not even that big a part of the total knife picture.

Brownshoe is exactly right. He is hitting the nail not only on the head but with a 2 ton sledge hammer!

Mick Striders QC on all his knives is like an after the fact, send it in we will make it right deal. QC in the field in a Marines hand will not work that way at all because when the sh*t and lead are flying there is no QC available to you in the field and if your super MARSOC Strider knife malfunctions what do you?????
Blame the stupid government contract?
Blame the maker?
Or do you send it in?
How the hell do you send it in from Bagdad?

Ummmm... Exactly what design and QC problems is our troops experiencing with Striders? Please be specific with your responses, and leave out your traditional I'm an "insider" and I know what I speak diatribe.

BBW (Big Bad Wolf)
There are hundreds of threads of existing problems with QC and Striders. USN and BLadeforums have many many threads of problems that customers have experienced. Latest problems are broken pocket clips on SnG's and blade play due to different sized studs on SnG's these so called "send it in problems" will be magnified 10 fold when the MARSOCs are in the field. MCSOCOM troops will break them. Hell they can break a bowling ball in the field!
If these QC problems are being experienced by the pic taking arm chair I cut things on Sunday crowd what the hell will be the problems by real users????????????

This is a great dis-service to our country and tropps in need. Selling out for money what a shame

I too would be intereseted in documentation of all thse failures.

Especially as to my understanding Strider knives are heat treated by Paul Bos, considered by many to be the best in the business.

Can call them a sharpened pry bar if you want(I do at times, though I admit there are uses for sharpened pry bars), but I have a hard time believing a sharpened pry bar, HT'd by Paul Bos, thus carrying both Mick's and Paul's reputations, is going to have a known problem with failures or QC.

So back up yoru claims. you haven't yet in this whole thread.

as a strider JUNKIE, thats right STRIDER JUNKIE, i cant belive this is still going and its the same guy who keeps it going. fsking troll. how does anyone but mick and the crew, a couple guys from the other forum and shelby chan know how the MARSOC even feels? i held it for like 2 seconds at blade west when josh opened up the case, how can you make an eval on the blade when no one has one? **** i wish i could get mick to "striderize" my sebbie, then it would truly be perfect. argh enough ranting sorry guys.

Really? Can you provide links to some examples? No need to post them all; 50 or 60 should suffice.
