New trad forum rule?

No New Rules Ever. Too many already. Take a load off & give people some room...:)

I'd like to know this as well Kevin because Jon Slider told me once it doesn't? That's why an image hosting website is used

This is true, the images are not stored on the BF server. When you include and image, you are linking your post to the image that is stored on another server (for example Flickr) . What it does slow down is how quickly (or slowly) the page loads on your computer, as your web browser is downloading the image from the server that stores the image. That being said, typically the image is cached on your pc, so it won't need to be downloaded each time you load the page containing that image.

I understand the OP's point. Primble also has some very valid points too. This is the most friendly and "close" group I've ever seen on a forum. Whatever we're doing here is making for a fun and pleasant place to hang out. There are some great contributors/members here and our Moderators are outstanding also. All these factors combine and blend into a truly great forum.

I'll make an effort to try and remove the image code when I quote someone, but the old saying is very true... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". :)

and there you have it.:)

I am never guilty of this horrible act :D

I agree with the OP, and have read the rules more than once as a newbie (ahh infractions). However, I also agree w/ Primble in his respectful response. There are some wonderful people in this neck of the woods who do spend time, money, and effort to teach others and myself as a newbie. With that said, I do not believe I pull nearly as much weight to the contribution of this sub-forum so, I do not believe it is my place to conform it to my liking. I take it for what it is and enjoy it.

Here is my 2 cents. I have been hanging around Bladeforums for a good long time now. Since it's beginning the Traditional forum has been my most frequented forum. I have seen people come and people go, lots of Forum activity and some times of less activity. Clicks, trolls, good eggs and even a few rotten eggs.
A few times I can remember things being changed and rules being enforced for the good of all. These were usually followed by some slow times on the forums. I really think we as a forum community are better off with less rules and more open communication and respect.
The OP's thread has already got a few folks saying the will at least be more mindful of their posting and that may well spread.
It's hard to ignore all the generosity and good cheer on this forum. Friendly folks, great photos interesting at least to me posts. I think we should think twice before we make any changes to what is a fantastic little corner of the internet.

That's good to hear and thanks Paul!

I honestly like quoting someone's photo multiple times. Dial up is a thing of the past and photobucket compresses so much I never even see it lag on my 4g cell phone.

Anyhow, if I was corrected for quoting someone's pic I would probably never support this site again. I'm just saying it's not like it's an evil or malicious thing. It's someone excited to comment. I like scrolling a page and getting second and third looks. Usually you don't see this ( or I don't ) unless it's a good pic, a great knife, friends all taking notice, or some other kind hearted motive.

Anyhow, pics or this thread is worthless. :p

The first rule of the traditional forum club is you don't talk about the traditional forum club :d

The only thing better than seeing Primble's beautiful photos is seeing them reposted 4 or 5 times in the same thread. :)

I do agree to an extent with the OP. I think if one gives some "specific" thought as to what it is they are trying to comment/compliment/ooogle about and be selective, that would help reduce the blanket reposting of 1/2 page re-posts with a comment that does not go beyond a "nice". To Paul's point, if one or several....or many...of Primble's beauties have already been re-posted 3 or 4 times, I'd suggest to let the pic re-post go and just tell Primble that each one of his extraordinary knives go WAAAYYY beyond beautiful, and leave a forwarding address for him to send it to you.

Overall, I don't think it's a terrible problem. I just think more restraint needs to be exercised.

I disagree with more rules. I agree with more pics.

This thread is useless without pictures.

It had to be said.

I would post different pictures but I don't often carry anything different.

Trimming quoted material is a lost art.

Thank you, OP, we needed the reminder. Photos: good; multiple copies of the same photo on the same page: not so good.
