But yeah, screw the mismatched pivot (a cost saving technique) ...
Where are you coming up with the idea that the new pivot is mismatched?
First post in the thread, but it's been edited out now.
I asked and received this response from Heather:
"Yes, the pivot is the same on both sides. Please let me know if you have any more questions."
Does anyone have pictures of the new style Umnumzaan tore down?
Do they have the 25 style washers?
Is the pivot diameter the same?
What are the 25 style washers? Has CRK redesigned the washers again. Sorry, Ive been reading some confusing things about the washers. Confusing because the Umnumzaan came out a long time ago with the perforated washers and then the Sebs from then on switched to those same washers as well. They all have had the hole-y washers for quite a while. So is there yet another washer style on the new 25?
The 25 washers are perforated but also have a tab that holds the washers static in the handle. That way only the blade can travel over the washer surface and they will not rub on the handle.
Ahh, that's what the tab is there for? Sounds dummy-proof.....lol![]()
I have to say that the old one I have (large jimping, S30V, no lbs, old pivot, idaho stamp) is my favourite knife probably but this new one is very interesting and worth a try
it's good to see improvements (may they be economical or useful)
Same here, I have two also.![]()
Two must be a good number. I have two normal Umnumzaans and one tanto Umnumzaan, all from 2009.
It's something like lock back stop, it's a circular piece of steel that keeps the lock from being abused or opened too far. It is probably in most of the older style ones that are available at this time.

I bought another umnum and it has all the new stuff ....
Sorry to tell the nay sayers but the jimping is grippier on the new one and the pivot is both non intrusive and possibly less likey to loosen.... No it does not look as cool as my old style, but it's deffinately user friendly improvement...
