New Umnumzaan Pivot

What dealer did you buy the umnum from?
I just got one today and hope it has the new style.
I like the clean look..:)
Thanks!!
EBay, seller name bodromarsh. I think I'm liking it more now. It is freakin smooth, no doubt, and it fills the hand more than the Sebby. I'll keep it!

well look at that. looks interesting. I'd like to see this new umnumzaan, but i want to wait to see if they'll change that lock pin for ti or do something different with it. did it come with the new bugger hex? thanks for the pictures :)

Wow, sad. I can honestly say that the changes make the Umnum absolutely hideous in my eyes. SO glad I got two pre-change examples.....so glad.

I hope the money saved by switching to a single style of jimping, and only one pivot style for the Umnum + Seb will be........worth it.

IMO every change looks better, plus they're functional changes; i.e., they work better. The only thing they need to do is extend the milling that used to end at the former larger pivot. It looks strange with one ending in the middle for no reason (now).

I agree that this looks strange and do not doubt that this will most likely be the next change.

I'm hold off on my first one until the mix & match of pivots gets sorted out - and yeah, if Chris is going with a standard pivot then get those handle milled out properly.

I haven't heard a single complaint by an owner about the new Umnumzaan's jimping or the action of the pivot.

Judging by the pictures that LVMPDawg posted and some things people pointed out about the GP Knives pictures, I don't think the whole mix-match thing is going on at all. But I do agree that the milling should be changed to accommodate the new pivot.

But I do agree that the milling should be changed to accommodate the new pivot.
Forgive my knife anatomy ignorance, but when you Gents mention that the milling should be modified to accommodate the new pivot, are you suggesting that the pivot side of the scale should be milled out to create more of a recess area from the edge of the scale in towards the pivot?

No, just what I showed in my picture (that's why I included it :p ) -- extend that one line

I suppose "accommodate" might have been a bit of a misleading term for me to use, but what Kreole said is what I meant.

Ouch, you're right! :D But sk8n is probably right.

Just got mine today...
Love the new look, jimping is great, better then my sebenza.
Milling is missing as well but that doesn't bother me.
Overall very pleased, smooth as butter...:)

Ahh, got it, thanks. I have a tendency to overcomplicate things, even when someone draws me a picture.:p But, I completely agree that extending the line and milling it further down would create more of an aesthetic balance.

I'd love to see a small version of the Zaan. With these recent changes it looks like might be possible, how freaking awesome would that be.

I'd go for a 3.2-3.3 inch blades zaan but not a 3". However impractical it would be for crk to do, it would be cool.

For once this is a good change on the Umnumzaan. This new pivot is unobtrusive, sits flusher with the scales and can be dis/assembled with a standard hex wrench, albeit in a bigger size. Probably saves a bit of weight, too. Structural strength does not seem to be compromised. What's not to like?!

This is a step towards more simplicity for the Umnumzaan, following the mantra: Simplicate and add lightness.

Congrats to CRK for this one, you did very well.
