New Zombie TV Show ( The Walking Dead )

I got a chuckle out of the glock safety thing too but was even more entertained by how many shots the cops had to take before they actually hit the first guy with the shotgun. I thought the show was fun and was pretty surprised by the amount of gore they were able to get away with.

I mentioned that also!

I thought it was pretty good overall, i did catch the glock safety thing and sighed...but the rest was pretty good. I was also surprised by amount of gore they had in it. I thought the make up and effects were good too. Looking forward to the season:thumbup:

the improved glock, aka the steyr m40a1 and m9a1 in military version has a nice physical external safety.

that said, everything about the steyr makes the glocks look like a nice prototype, imho

I've never read this comic, but I must ask. Is the comic worth buying and reading? (And possibly re-reading after some time?) or is it more of a read it once and forget it?

I LOVE the zombie genre ever since I was a little kid when they first scared the crap outta me. I think a large part of the fascination we have with them is the feeling of helplessness and survival aspects of it as it could relate with alot of shtf scenarios.

I just went out today and bought 4 issues of the comic book, its pretty good and the series will get really good too Im sure. One of the best zombie books ever written is called World War Z, Id suggest you check it out, really really good.

The thing with the Glock made me lol, but hey thats hollywood right. The hospital and tank scenes had my blood pumping, and 2 other good scenes I thought were really well done were when the main guy went back and killed that crawling zombie in the grass and when the black guy was trying to snipe his Zwife, really sad and kinda emotional. And man was that dude A GOOD actor, the guy trying to kill his wife, bravo!

My Zday weapons/equipment if I were on the move?

Arsenal SGL 20 AK 47 in my hands
Remington 870 slung on my back
HK USP .45 in holster at my side or leg

All reliable in harsh conditions, Id leave my AR at home.

KABAR or Cold steel Trailmaster

Backpack with extra loaded mags, few bottles of water, some canned tuna and power bars. Alot more if I had a car for my travels.

I know Shotgunner and some others are really into the comic series of this show. I saw an interview with the wife of the deputy sheriff on the show and she said on the set everything is absolutely run by the comic book. That's how they make the script and create the characters, the comic book runs the show. I thought the first episode was really good and had some great scenes. Granted there were some oops moments like the Glock but that's Hollywood for you, but as the the show goes on and evolves it's really going to be great.

Yeah Game. Thats a good question? Just after seein one EP. of the show I'm a fan. It was very well done. It *allmost made ya feel sorry for the female zombie that was somewhat in 1/2* Like either Why am I so farged up,or please shoot me, or, Man I'm really hungry but just can't seem to catch up to a happy meal. It was great FX on it as well. The tank scene was way cool, (I felt bad for the horse) So all & all I think its gonna be a BIG winner as a show. So the show is based on the comic. So is the comic well done? good art? dialog? Price? I would love to see a pic of a page of the comic. And/or what the cover looks like? So yeah..Is it worth buying? or would it also give away the plot of the show? Kinda like some kid at a movie you're watchin and really into for the first time, and the kid says, "Oh this is when he dies in 5 mins." OH... I just asked a load of Qs there. Oh well:):) enjoy edgy

I my opinion, yes, the books are very worth reading.

I'm not a comic book guy at all, haven't read them in 25 years aside from this one and the story line sucked me in.

I really don't see how the tv series can follow the books exactly because nothing is sacred in the books. Very dark.

It'll be interesting to see how dark the show gets as the series progresses. Things are going to keep getting worst in humanity within the show, it's gonna have get pretty dark.

So I bought the first trade paper back (issues 1-6) the other day and it was so good, I went on Amazon and bought the Compendium of issues 1-48, and book 5 and book 6 which bring me up to issue 72 I think. That should be coming Tuesday or Wednesday..

I haven't seen the show, but from seeing the previews and reading issues 1-6, there are some differences I've noticed..the shootout is different (more "spectacular" for the show), Rick doesn't climb into the tank (unless he goes back to the city and it happens after issue 6)..The 1/2 zombie woman again is more "animated" for the TV show..crawling around and all..

I wish episode one would be on youtube..

The comic is actually based off of the movie 28 Days Later (and later released book 28 Days Later, The Aftermath, and even later released movie 28 weeks later). The original movie 28 Days Later beginning sequences are a 100% match for how The Walking Dead started, a guy wakes up in a hospital days or weeks after the infestation has started and is clueless. The only difference being is that it was set in London. I liked the original movie, and I liked the new show, but I really wish the writers of the show could have been a little bit original in their writing for the beginning sequences. (yeah, I know The Walking Dead comic is a different release name than 28 Days Later, but where do you think they got the idea from?)

A better question might be, have you seen 28 Days Later? Cause if you haven't you should. And most definitely before you read the comic book.

And while the topic is zombies, you should also read the book World War Z. The guy who wrote it is Mel Brooks's son or nephew. I can't ever remember which one. But it is a really good book.

Just FYI, if you miss the show on Sunday's, AMC will do an encore of each episode the following Friday at 10pm eastern. Fits my schedule a little better honestly.

Na, the writing of the comic series predates the 28 days movies.

The 90-minute episode featured similarities in style and substance to films such as Danny Boyle's '28 Days Later', however, the original writer plays down concerns surrounding the show's originality, insisting his books came first. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kirkman said, "I saw 28 Days Later shortly before the first issue of Walking Dead was released. That first issue came out in October of 2003 and 28 Days Later was released in the States in June of 2003. So we were working on our second issue by the time I saw it", before adding, "Yeah. It was a little annoying.

Not true. 28 days later was released in 2002 (the UK release was Nov 2002), The Walking Dead comic was released in 2003 (first printing is Oct 2003 for #1). He can claim his chicken came before the egg all he wants. The story lines tell the real truth. You think no one had internet or could buy an offshore DVD (UK DVD was released on 19 May 2003) six months before his comic release? Six months seems like just the right amount of time to get a comic story line together and printed.

No offense, but 28 days later blew chowder, the new series is much better so far, IMO.

BTW, did the person-waking-up-in-the-hospital in 28 days maybe come from Resident Evil?

Personally, I think the series blows more chunks. Nothing original in it.
