New Zombie TV Show ( The Walking Dead )

OK so I have two episodes under the belt and I like it. OK there are more than a few technical errors, and tactics or things that shouldn't be done. Its just a fun show. I always find it funny in these shows how quickly the military is overrun or out of the picture, I just don't see that happening. I guess if the guys with the big guns were still in the picture it would ruin the helpless isolation feeling...lol I would still have liked to see him fire up the mystery tank and flatten a few Zombies.

1.) He's a cop. Zombies were crawling on the tank. Why would he try to use a gun he never shot before, and may not know where the charging handle is.

2.) He might not know if it was loaded or not. I don't remember him looking up at it before diving under the tank.

3.) In the second episode, it looked as if it was NOT loaded.

4.) I find it hard to believe the tank crew would have abandoned the tank before expending their ammo (and fuel) first

Thinking about zombies you always see the same headshot concept. Bunch of guys running around shooting zombies in the head. Why not fire? Some gasoline bombs, maybe a flame thrower....Just saying they might be walking torches for a few, but walking ash...not so sure about that.

Who knows?! If that day ever where to come, I'm sure every method in the book and then some will be thrown at them. Hopefully it doesn't take something really terrible like playing 70-80's "soft rock" on loud speakers to make their heads explode!!! THE HUMANITY!!!:D

I just watched the first episode on HULU. I'm very impressed.

Well yeh, that would work, but not quickly. Zombies don't feel pain or go into shock. So they would not drop for possibly several minutes after they got lit.

So this could go wrong in at least two ways: You're still getting chased by zombies, but now, oh joy, they are on fire.
Alternatively they might not stay lit long enough to be destroyed. So now you're getting chased by slightly crispy zombies.

Also, fire is a risky tool. If you set a whole town in fire the zombies might be the least of your troubles...

I understand the tactical problems, but think, just once, we really need a good mass-rekilling scene with a flame thrower, maybe some old-school Doom-esque chainsaw fighting. Even if it's just a "last stand" scene, that would rule.

Oh yeah, and a couple good Spooky runs.

One more thing ;)

I'd love to see a large scale Army/Marine vs zombies firefight.

I just watched the first two episodes 'On Demand',cause I work Sundays.

I like it a lot! That part where he was trapped under the tank was really tense!Had my heart pounding!

Also,I'm surprised(& delighted:D) that they allow so much gore on a cable network.

its a pretty awesome show for sure. i am waiting to see when they get back to camp and he sees his wifey with his best friend. i bet he is gonna be extra salty that 1. they left him to die lol and 2. they are now more than just friends. may not matter that is partner and wife aren't zombies :) i am definitely ready to see the next episode for sure

From the looks of it to me, his partner and his woman were getting busy before he was in a coma. That's the vibe I picked up when they were talking in the patrol car and his partner seemed guilty when he visited him him the hospital. Next episode will definitely be interesting.

Yeah I think the wifey and his partner were doin' it before his coma. When they showed them hookin' up at camp it seem like they'd been at it for a while.

A spooky run on a "herd" of walking dead would be a must see tv moment!:D

didn't one of the resident evil series have something like that?

My favorite new TV show. Actually, perhaps my favorite TV show period. It seems that everything else that is on is a continuation of something that is already getting old. Except maybe Hawaii 5-0. Well, no, that is just a re-make. But ooooo.... Grace Park... but I digress..... where was I?

But "28 Days" is my all-time favorite Zombie-esque movie, probably because like someone mentioned earlier, i could see something LIKE it really happening. Unlike a large-scale un-dead conversion. Well, not really happening.... but you know... at least they're not dead, they're just crazy, fevered, cannabalistic monsters. :D Which, incidentally, can be related back to politics, too. :D

Walking Dead got off to a bad start with me, though, right up front, in the opening sequence from which it flashed back to the car scene with him and his partner. In the first sequence, he meets the little zombie girl. Well, it appeared that as he was walking through the mess of cars, he passed a couple with dead people in them, and I don't recall holes in their heads or faces. Why was the little girl the only one wandering around?

Anyway, still a great show, that has me looking forward to every Sunday evening. :D

Have you read World War Z? The first real battle with "Z", where the new units use their bolos and SIR rifles? Yeah, I've read this section too many times. The way they call in the zombies was great, I can't wait to see this scene in the World War Z movie. The "water boys" were funny too.

One of the soldiers at the battle states that everyone had their own way of calling "Zed" in. The Brits used bagpipes, the South Africans beat their assegai against their shields. The US army used Iron Maiden to lure the zombies in.

I'm going to have to get the book out again. I thought the zombies were referred to as Zed, but I might be thinking of the movie Pulp Fiction ;).
