New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

WooHoo!!

Just got my shipping confirmation email for Roger at KW. Placed my order for a 0560 on 7/2/11. Guess Monday or Tuesday is going to be a great day!!

I figured it would be an unpopular thing to say, but it's how I see it. It reminds me of some Emersons
and how the whole handle would flex easily. Grab your 0560 with your right hand on the handle while placing
your left fingers around the top of the blade (be careful) and pull down against the lock. You will see
it flex quite a bit. Use both hands to attempt to bend the opened knife sideways (careful). It will flex even more, and the lock looks like is going to pop off the tang. I don't see my SMF or Adamas do this or the 0302 I used to have. It might be quite strong, and I understand what Thomas is saying about the "niche" of the 0560, just not sure it is appealing to
me, that's all..

I'm having a hard time imagining where the flex is coming from having never handled the knife ?? The spacers and everything looks solid. Someone needs to disassemble their knife and post a 1080p hi def video on the tube !

You might want to keep an eye peeled on the exchange - they pop up there, if for some reason the buyer doesn't care for a new pre-order knife.

I know guys that are selling their 560/561s can rape folks as bad as they want to....charge a Lot more than they paid. Supply and demand, right.

What's wrong with the few on the fs forums just trying to get their $$ back ??? A saw a couple 560s for $260.....sold very fast.

They sold very fast, I looked and was watching TV, came back and one had come and gone lol.

Well I just got my 0561 in the mail. What a great knife! I haven't held a Hinderer before, but this thing seems rock solid to me. Excellent fit and finish. Great color. Basically everything I was hoping for. I can't for the life of me open it with the thumbstud, but I got this as a flipper, so I'm happy to sacrifice the studs for the stronger detent. Anyway, nice job guys, and thanks to Thomas and everyone else for giving us updates along the way.

One note on the light weight: even Busse is lightening up with their "Light Brigade" series. Light and strong > heavy and strong.

I just received my first in the mail. I preordered really late and ordered 2 [need a safe queen] but only one shipped. I don't know if I've got a friend in high places that pulled some strings or what.

I can't get mine to flex at all. Mine does creak like an old door like someone said. The knife is so light that the tiny vibration of the detent seems to be amplified along the scale. The lockbar is kind of like a tuning fork. This noise is completely dampened and does not exist when in hand. It also seems to be getting less and less as the it starts to wear in. I'm not concerned about it at all. Others may have more oil coming from the factory and not have the issue. I don't remember serial #002 having the creak at all but I only notice it on this knife when closing it and resting it on my palm. I don't notice it when opening it with it fully in hand.

The KVT in this is just as smooth as the Tilt and it's great to see it in a regular production knife that even with the shortages is already far more widely available than the Tilt. Now that I have one of my own, I'm still totally blown away by how great this knife is. It's absolutely amazing. I love the stonewashed blade. I love having an open back. It fits my hand quite well. Since I've got the 0300 here at work and thats the beefy blade everyone compares it to I'll also compare it to that. The flipper doesn't make contact with my finger when I use the thumbstud like it does on my 0300 [although maybe I'm just an idiot for having that issue with the 0300]. The whole thing looks and feels like a very finely crafted, precision, durable tool. The only thing that doesn't is that bit of creaking.

I think this knife goes well with the 0300 though and will not replace it. They seem like two very different knives and I like them both. The 0300 actually might carry better for me. It's much thicker but sits high on my pocket so I can carry junk down below the knife. The 0560 slips right down in to the very bottom of my pocket. The ears for the blade stop against the thumbstud is also a bit sharp. I wear Carhartts so I don't see it being an issue for me. I don't see anyone wearing dress pants and carrying this thing so likely not an issue for anyone. I carry a heavy phone in a case with a holster on my offhand side so the 0300 balances that out as they are about the same weight. The 0560 is much much lighter. For most people the 0560 will be the much better carry option.

On a scale of 1-10 on how well they fit the niche I have them trying to fill I'd rate the 0560 at a 9.5, the 0300 at a 9, and the Skyline as a 9.9. These are pretty biased toward my personal preferences as I'd give the 0300 much higher numbers if it had a stonewash blade and an open back. We all have different preferences and I'm glad there is such a large field of knives out there to choose from. Not everyone may love the 0560. I wouldn't call it perfect, but it I'm blown away by it and definitely love it. It is definitely a knife that I can't understand how someone couldn't like it even if I understand why not everyone loves it.

Well, looks like my 0560 was shipped out but I wont be able to enjoy it for a little while until I get back, only a couple weeks to wait though. Then I can take it back out and put it through the ringer. Great turnaround considering I preordered it in Jan.

I plan on holding on to it also, I like the ZT quality and own quite few other ZT's. I'm not too impressed with the sale threads from members that ordered them with the sole purpose of reselling them as soon they received them for +$200-$300 more then what they paid.

Just recieved the 0560 today. ZT/Hinderer hit it out of the park with this one. Great knife!

I think if they released a 3.3-3.5" bladed model as well they would sell as many or more.

I guess I would have to say that I am offended by this post to say the least. ...

Don't sweat it. It's the internet. Online postings are inherently rude and the impersonal medium creates fuzzy boundaries. I doubt the guy meant it like it came out.

Folks around here know who you are and how you handle your business and they appreciate it.

I'm impressed with how quickly ZT/Kershaw are pumping these out, I'm used to seeing 100-200 a month, but it seems they'll actually fill all the preorders by mid April or sooner. Mine should be hear monday or tuesday!

Now THAT is good news...I really like my 0300...but its like carrying a can of soup in my pocket. Now with my 0560 I have the ruggedness of my 0300 with the lightweight of my Groove. Goal achieved.

Ding ding ding!! You nailed it brother! Love my 0200 flipper, but sometimes it just weighs me down too much......you know, like when going commando in board shorts!:D

That is why my 0561 hasn't left my pocket since I got it and all my other Kershaws/ZT's are getting jealous. It's a big 'ol badass beefy blade, yet I don't even notice it in my pocket. Love this knife!

Well done KAI/Kershaw/ZT, thanks!

Man..All you guys are just making me SO jealous. I did something very stupid two nights ago. I ran across a random website with the 0560 for sale. It didn't say it was out of stock, but didn't say it was in stock either. So, I added it to my cart and decided to email the company before I placed my order. I didn't want it to be another preorder list or them take my money before they even had the knives. The company emailed me back the next morning, assuring me that the 0560 was actually in stock. I go back to the site to place my order and BAM...Now it says "Notify Me". Apparently someone snatched the thing right out from under me. Sad, sad day.:(

LOL, Tower, you know we are friends, but I'd vote for Satan himself before I vote for 0bama! See ya at the summer Hinderer GTG?

B.T., you know I love you like a little brother. Everyone loves their little brother, no matter how misguided their thinking is on some things. :)

See you in Ohio.

Aha! Something on which we can agree.
