New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

THANK YOU!
I'm not the only one who thought the same thing.
I'm not saying it is fragile, it just appears that way when compared to other ZT tanks.
For all I know, it is much tougher than ZT's other offerings.
I don't think people like yerscattergun or me are bashing on it, it is just a personal preference for a solid feeling hunk of steel.
Already addressed this back on page 194.

A bit more perspective on the 0560 and other projects that we have/are producing recently.

Through our conversations here on BF's , please know that we do take note on the input we receive here. Some needs to be filtered, but we do hear you, and analyze the intel we receive. In many cases we have implemented change to existing items, and have also brought on new features with debuting product.
We thank you all very much.

What we've heard with regards to ZT was on size and weight. While many of you like the overbuilt aspect, the 0200's and 0300's were to big, thick and heavy for everyday carry. In evaluating these responses, we came to the conclusion that we would attempt at similar type products but with the intent to sacrifice the thick, and heavy. We felt we could capture full size but make like easier to carry from a weight and girth standpoint.

The Tilt was really the first full sized knife that we set out to do this to, and feel it turned out fantastic. Like with every design, it's not for everyone, but there is no denying that for it's size, it's a bit of a welterweight with all the top flight materials and technology included. Goal achieved.

The 0560 is in this genre as well. Compare it to it's cousin the 0550. The 0550 is tough, thick, weighty, and blocky Everything we've all come to expect from a knife in this category. Almost all fit this description. With the 0560 we wanted it to be different from it's relative and competition. We put it on a diet. We removed a lot of Ti with the 3-D machining. Large portions of the liner material disappeared. No beefy backspacer. The result was a knife that brings everything to the table that we're all used to, in a package that is as strong, yet sleeker, faster, and dare I say smarter than the what we've seen in the past. We could have done the same, same, but felt this was the direction based on your call.

This piece will feel different, and I believe some will not understand it at first. We've all been programmed from the past, and the Tilt, 0560, and upcoming 0777 go against that regular grain. They are different animals, a new breed of which I believe will be the trend going forward.

A thread was also started about this subject here...http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/933302-Terminology-Perception-and-Reality

I figured it would be an unpopular thing to say, but it's how I see it. It reminds me of some Emersons
and how the whole handle would flex easily. Grab your 0560 with your right hand on the handle while placing
your left fingers around the top of the blade (be careful) and pull down against the lock. You will see
it flex quite a bit. Use both hands to attempt to bend the opened knife sideways (careful). It will flex even more, and the lock looks like is going to pop off the tang. I don't see my SMF or Adamas do this or the 0302 I used to have. It might be quite strong, and I understand what Thomas is saying about the "niche" of the 0560, just not sure it is appealing to
me, that's all..

I own several xm's and i picked up a 561 today at a local shop and I LOVE IT.It seems to be a very well made knife. It fires faster and harder than any of my XM's,i guess because of the stronger detent and the KVT system.I am going to be carrying it for the next few weeks and putting it to the test.By the way they had a few of these in stock....

I for one love the light weight. It's amazing how much knife they can pack into those 5.75 ounces.

Does anyone know what hardness the ELMAX is being run at? I've always wondered since its primary asset is toughness. Thanks y'all.

Mine didn't flex at all. You must be torquing the blade awful hard. You know knives are designed for cutting things, right?

I bet if you smack your adamas with a hammer the scales would break, must be a weak design.... C'mon man

I edc my 0300 and my 0301 all the time. It's not that big and heavy? "I say grow a pair" 8 oz is not that much.

Any chance we can see an Xm-18 vs 0560 comparison on your YouTube channel? I'm so happy your back. I was definatly missing your vids.

This thing is tough. Use it right and it won't break. If your going to twist and pry get a fixed blade. ZT sells those too ;)

Well, I wish I would have read that before I ordered last June.
Was that info available when I ordered 9 months ago?
Well looking back at post #1439, #1440 I would think most could start to draw conclusions that the build was going to have the length with less mass/weight.
If it was, I missed it an I definitely would not have ordered.
Since you have a 056X in hand, I'm pretty sure there are options for you.
550... Sounds like that was the knife for me.
If the design calls to you, and you like the overbuilt aspect (weight/girth) of this genre of knife, then I think the 0550 is a viable candidate.

Let me say that I got my hands on a 560 today and carried both the 550 and 560 all day. Love them both. Great knives.

I carried my ZT0561 last night and today. It carries exceptionally well for the size! I think a lot of it has to do with the pocket clip actually, I know some guys don't prefer the style ZT went with here but I love it. As for whether or not it feels "fragile" I'd say that a lot of words come to my mind when I hold this blade and "fragile" is not one of them. Just my 2 cents.

Well, while I am LOVING my 0561, I learned today that my 0560 is already shipped and on its way, scheduled to arrive on Monday. So a couple of things: First, re: the weight issue, Come on. If you own an XM, then you probably realize that you can pry a door open with it! I expect the 056X will be no different. I must say that despite having an extensive XM collection, I really love the relatively light weight of the 056X. I wore mine today clipped onto my Nylon running shorts. An XM would have had me naked in public. So stop whining about the light weight as if it is a drawback. If you want to complain, put your knife through its paces, find the failure point and ONLY THEN will you have earned the right to complain. Jeez, too light??? That's like saying a bike frame is too light, it just doesn't jive with reality. The light weight of this thing is one of the few areas where it may actually surpass the XM. This is like complaining that you got a Porsche when you asked for a Volkswagen.

Now I am certainly going to vote for Obama. But I realize that there may be a Republican or two on this site. So here is my suggestion. Since the field of candidates this year is so abysmal, why not write in Dave Anderson, our very own Kershawguy. From what I have seen, he follows through on his promises and gets the job done! Just something to consider. :D

Completely the wrong analogy based on my comments. A bike frame? A Volkswagen?
Weight/Girth is needed to get jobs done. What do you want to pull a boat with? a Porsche or a Monster 4x4?
Under your comments you would go with the Porsche because it has more horsepower and you can park it in compact parking spaces.
Certain things are needed under certain conditions. This is not a safe queen and I'm definitely not wearing it with running shorts.
Look, don't get me wrong, I think the 560 is great looking knife. If you read my first post I actually say that.
I'm complaining that I got a Porsche when I asked for a Tank.
But no worries, Its a great knife and as Thomas W. said, I have plenty of options.
Still love ZT.
