New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

I spent an hour or so smoothing out all the hot spots in the jimping and scale. The flipper action after a 1/2 dozen or so deploys is now very stiff and gritty. Sounds like an old door hinge. Detent is now very sticky as well. I guess it will work it self out but frankly, I expected better performance for a knife in the excess of $250.00.

You probably got debris in the pivot when you did all that unnecessary sanding. Try blasting it out with an aerosol spray, straight air or lubricant.

Or you can get brave and disassemble the knife.

+1

If there wasn't an issue with the action before sanding on it I'm not sure why it would be the knife's fault if it's running rough afterwards. That is unless the OP was expecting a knife at this price point to perform better dirty than one that cost less? Just saying.

The sticking started prior to the smooth out. I also removed the scale to avoid getting grit in the action. Looks like things are improved with a healthy shot of Tri-Flow. Maybe problem solved.

well I just found out that I'm #96 on Dave's list for the 561. guess i'll be waiting a while. Everyone post more pictures so I can at least look at more of em.

hmmm.....those scales Peter is showing are making me want some LSCF......

To me .......pencil lead is a temp. fix (wheres off fast)
I have two of these , the other is fine .........I kind of like the jimping on the lock .....LOL
I,d rather not screw with it , it cost to much for that so I dont wanna void any warranty.
My other one was a little sticky and it broke in eassily .......this one not so.

The pencil lead trick just shortens the break in period on sticky titanium locks. Stay with it - you'll work through it!

I always clean a new knife (pivot area) by a generous dowsing in alcohol, while having the blade in different positions to allow good coverage and blow the h*ll out of it to remove tiny particles of debris. Good luck with the Tri-flo :)

shazam!

Nice work Peter! That orange is looking good.:)

I've had my 560 for about a week now and after flipping it open countless times to break it in the knife is smooth as butter and lighting fast! Some of the jimping is a little rough but I'll callous up right:D I can flip open with the thumb studs but I have to be careful because I've pinched my index finger with the flipper since I choke up a bit too much, that smarts! Anyway, after a week I like this knife more than when I took it out of the box and at that time it was my new favorite knife! I keep thinking I might need a backup....

A guy cut his finger bad down to the bone on one of our Raptures. He had to get 5 stitches and posted a video. I was shocked when he sold it. When your knife cuts you, you gotta keep it forever.

Looks like it bit you already hatchetjack!! You know it means you own it forever now! :D

No, not yet! It's something I learned from my Dad. He played a stand up bass in a jazz trio when we were kids and if he had not played for awhile, he would tape his fingers to avoid blistering till the callouses thickened up.

I had read about flipping it till the action wore in and I didn't know how many cycles that would take, so I was being "preventative"..:D.

I don't see the 0560 as having rough spots. Rubbing a cotton ball a thousand times will cause a callous. These knives will break in quick enough on there own. I see the intentional breaking in as unneccessary-it's just shortening the lifespan of the lock. Just my opinion. Maybe I just don't get it.:D

That was a bad cut..I def would've kept it though

Got #89 and my what an awesome blade this is. Flimsy? Far from it. Flicks open like a beast.
But...it's on the way to Tulatin tomorrow for some things that need adjustment. Hate parting with it so soon but I'll have her back soon. Back to flipping my Tilt!

I always went by "it's not your knife till it draws blood" and if you guys are saying you can't sell a knife that has cut you, well then I'm stuck with almost my entire collection. :D

I'm upset. My 0561 was supposed to be here today, but something is going on with the USPS cause they are giving me a delivery date of today but according to the website tracking its still in Atlanta. Oh well maybe one more day. My 0560 will probably be in Monday and the custom CF scale from Peter should be following close behind. This sounds like a great upcoming week.
