New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

I am not sure why anyone would want to have a nonflipper design of a flipper folder... IMO Flipper designs are the best in 2 ways. One thing you get the quick deployment of just using the flipper instead of a stud, hole, or button. Then you also get the added feature of a "guard" making it almost impossible for you hand to slide up on the blade when stabbing for whatever reason...

Thanks T! You da man! ;)

Moving along...

I don't like the tab projecting out of the spine of the knife because it takes up valuable real estate in my pocket and tends to hang up at inconvenient times. I can deploy the knife just as rapidly with a flick of the thumbstuds. When in the open position the tab won't allow you to come down level on a falt surface.

I'm liking the looks of that Ti side... so how many holes will you have to drill around the pivot area?

so, If I fly 2k mi to Blade this year, can I pick one up?
P.S. I will be there...........

Yes I mean ZT knives. And no, I don't know exactly what it will be like, but if it turns out as I suspect it will, it is going to be very similar to the XM-18. Is it such a stretch to then predict that a knife like that would sell like hot cakes?

Now just to be clear, I'm not saying I know anything more than anyone else around here 'cause I don't know Jack. And I'm not saying it will be a poor man's XM-18. I'm saying I suspect it may turn to be that way. And if it is, it should be a terriffic product for both ZT and the designer.

I really don't see what is so bold about that statement or even particularly imaginative. How many people would love to own an XM-18 but can't afford to pay that much? Even those who can sometimes can't find one.

Feel free to disagree. . . .
That's going to depend on the steel and the ability of the blade to make cuts. Speaking as an owner of the XM-18, there are a few things I like about it, but I get the feeling it simply isn't for me since the fat blade and grind means my Sebenza will outcut it by a wide margin. I also don't have any particular need to pry with the blade. I get the feeling however that the XM-18 would have been THE knife for me if I could have one with a slicer grind and a stronger detent.

Including a particularly exotic, yet functional steel(say, vanax 35) however would be 99% of the reason I need to make the purchase:thumbup:.

Noctis 3880 Vanax 35? I thought an exotic like CTS-XHP would be great how bout you?

Given that most of the steels we use today have carbon as the hardening element, I would think most would appreciate the Vanax series as a truly exotic steel with a high nitrogen content. Not like H1 or N680 which doesn't even have 0.50% nitrogen.

My experience with XHP might be biased, but I never found corrosion resistance to be particularly impressive, and while it can take a razor edge easier than S30V, it also loses that razor edge much faster. I suppose there's merit in having similar performance to Dozier heat treated D2 in a mass production knife, though I feel I would like Carpenter's 20CP or 204P better. Something about vanadium just scratches that itchy pulsating tumor sprouting out of my steel head:thumbup:.

I'm hoping for M390. C'mon M390!
I would actually like to see that, but pushed a point harder than what Benchmade runs theirs at(Rc 60), just for giggles:D.

Off to work I go....

Your mission, should you choose to accept it,is to keep this up on Page 1,for all the world to see.

A Monday Morning BRING IT!

Starting to get pretty excited... is that dorky? Being excited for a knife... you guys think I am normal, right? RIGHT?

Will Hinderer be okay with that? after all XM-18s are CTS-XHP

just wondering:rolleyes:

That was a private joke between me and Noctis 3880. I don't know if he picked up on it or when it was from but it's funny looking back in retrospect. :D

As far as this new flipper I don't even know what the blade steel is but I'm definitely getting one or two. ;)
