New ZT/Hinderer Flipper is Coming!!!0560/0561

Wait, saying you now understand why he wants a non-flipper because it's more like an XM-18 makes no sense to me. The XM-18 comes in flipper and non-flipper conformations, so how does the absence of a flipper make it more similar?

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that one of the reasons that helped this knife become a reality was the fact that so many people wished the 0551/0550 had a flipper version. Or it could be that manual flippers just plain kick a$$.

I'm not a big fan of the textured Ti on the clipside. My pockets already wear out so damn fast, I don't need more texture to make it happen even faster.

By the way, with the Kershaw sub forum opened again (SWEET!) I'm hoping that Thomas will leak some info to us over there. I'm still on the edge of my seat to know about the pivot and blade steel.

That's what's so great about the 0551. It won't wear out your pockets, but you get plenty of grip from the G10 side.

this is going to be one sweet knife. good thing i got me a 551 to hold me over. thank you thomas and every one at kershaw for all the hard work and effort.

I don't know if you are referring to my post or not but if you are, you may want to re-read it. I think you're confused. Where did I say the absence of a flipper makes it more like an XM-18?

I actually said I would like to see this knife released as a non flipper. I said that just because I like non-flippers.

Completely seperate from that, I said the knife itself (either flipper or non-flipper, I'm speaking in terms of the overall design) may turn out to be similar to the XM-18.

Either way: Two entirely separate issues. What difference does it make what I think anyway? It's not like I have anything to do with the design. . . :rolleyes:

I'll repeat what I previously said, I believe the pivot will be the same as the 0551:

We will find out soon enough.

I'm really really hoping the metal side will be textured like the ZT 300.
I just can't warm up to smooth metal handles. Other than that i love the new design.

Thank Heaven nobody else, especially the designer and builder agrees with you! Nothing like a smooth, naked, ti lock side. Yummy! :D

Agreed but I would like to see the Ti finished in a more organic way rather than the sterile bead blast finish the 0551 has. I don't dislike it but a stonewashed finish Ti slab would really set that new flipper off beautifully!

Stonewashed Ti would be awesome! We already have the beadblast on the 0551; need something different (and better looking).

Nah! Thomas already said it was going to be "something good". I predict a bit more flair than a pivot pin and a couple of washers.

Personally, I like the beadblasted Ti side of the 0551. The beadblast offers a bit of grip and it looks good to me. Stonewashed Ti doesn't really do it for me. It's kind of slippery and just blah. It's one man's opinion, but I wouldn't mind the lockside being beadblasted at all.

Absolutely, I thought about that after I posted, bead blast finish becomes a mess quickly

I hope it's a Stonewashed Ti as well. I'm so happy with what I'm seeing it looks like a lot of my wish list on page 1.

YOU GUYS ARE SCARING ME!

Nylon washers! Bead blast! :barf::jerkit:

:confused::eek::confused::eek:

Teflon washers, stonewash please

Just like the XM-18

If you don't like the XM-18, you need to get your head checked.

I still say beadblast Ti lockside is fine. I just like it. You can always give it a scotchbrite refinish or heat color it. Stonewashed M390 blade between 3.5" and 4". KVT pivot to top it all off. That's what I'd toss in the ring.
