New ZT0550 Thread !!!

I think its fine if the thumb studs hits both sides of the handle on opening. Unlike the Strider folders there is a layer of titanium under the G10 so in theory it should make for a stronger lock.

Scott, forgot to ask,how does it feel in hand?grip, and the weight?many thanks..I am sure your still playing with it...lol..

I definitely agree. I figure that's why they decided to add the steel liner. Its also why I was confused when it looked like the stud wasn't making contact with the liner, but rather the G-10.

looks awesome!
how's the lock?
I really love kesh<w's/ZT locks, some of few I've seen to non stuck or move while used

can't wait my distributor's email where he tells me he got mine!

Y'know, I kinda like the attention being the first to get one of these is bringing me. Too bad it's gonna wear off tomorrow. ;)

Anyway, I just tried Gnarly's suggestion wit a piece of paper, and it looks like the thumbstud is touching the G10 after all. I can't get the paper in there on either side, so it's locking up tight there. I'm not too worried about it, because of the liner underneath and the overall "bank vault" feel of the lockup, but I guess we found the one slight negative of the knife.

It's pretty comfortable as far as grip goes, though my hands are just a hair smaller than they planned for with the jimping on the blade. As long as I'm not trying to choke up on it, I'm pretty sure I could hold and use it all day without getting tired. As for the weight, you can tell it's fairly heavy for a knife when it's closed, but it's balanced well enough once open and in-hand that you almost forget it's there. My scale put it at 6.1 ounces, if that tells you anything.

Just working a bit with 400 grit sand paper wrapped on a pencil (or something smaller) at that G-10 hot spot should bring it down flush with the liner. Not a big problem IMHO. :)

Mine is at the PO waiting to be delivered!!
Tomorrow is gonna be a GREAT day:)

I am just blown away by this folder, but that Thick lockbar just has me drooling.

wouldnt that make the contact point uneven since youre removing material from only one side?

To me,thumbstud touching is a non-issue.
The paper was just my backwoods way of checking for clearance.

It's dark outside, and the woods are dark and deep...and I have hours to go before the mail runs.

I'm in florida and it processed through a local sort facility yesterday, so hopefully I'll see it with tomorrows deliveries. Fingers crossed.

So who's going to be the first to post a video?

A tip of the hat to Kershawguy for getting these out so darn fast. One knife arrived and some will be getting theirs in less than 24 hrs, some in a day or 2.

He picked them up and then spent his whole Thanksgiving day packing 'em up to ship us knife nuts our long awaited fix on this ZT0551.

Thanks Dave! :D

Little do you know he was sitting in a tub of turkey, ham, dressing and have a 24hr round-the-clock gravy IV...
