I like the size. Fits in the pocket and is the perfect blade length for hard EDC tasks.

Any bigger and it would't fit as well in the pocket.

That being said, a 3.75" or 4" version IN ADDITION TO the current 3.25" would be awesome.

I'm leaning toward this boat too! It'd be nice to have both blade lengths, and a few different colors, then I'd be set. Flipper + IKBS :-D

Don't know where the 3.25" number came from for the blade length, but Rob says it's 3.5" over on the Hinderer mfg forum.

As stated in the other posts, I like the non recurve blade. I always had a soft spot for the zt line but their previous models were too big and heavy for me so I never considered getting one. If this is a lot lighter that will change.

I'm on the fence on the glass breaker but there seem to be quite a few people who don't care for it. Stupid question but is it possible to design one a breaker with a screw and/or loctightthat could be removed if the user doesn't want it?
Thomas already said they are going to offer it without the glass-breaker backspacer.

Besides, if you did buy this knife with it on there, it wouldn't be hard to remove. Just unscrew one side of the handle, say the G10 side, and remove the spacer...

The 3.25" number came from earlier in this thread. 3.5" looks about right with the usable edge being 3.25" Too small. For gosh sakes, if you want a little gentleman's knife buy a silpjoint or a small sebbie. This is a ZT/Hinderer - I want some blade on that baby like 3.75 to 4 inches.

Looking at the pic of the ZT0550 next to the ZT350 composite, the blade lengths look almost identical. Well, it looks like the 550 could be a smidge longer...

It would nice if this knife was 3.5" in length..

Hey guys...cziv has it right...the blade length from front of handle scale to tip of blade is 3.5 in from start of edge bevel on the prototype to tip of blade is 3.25...people measure the actual blade lengths different thats where some confusion came from..

I think the depicted dimensions make the best EDC size in a folder. That's my opinion anyway. I like an EDC where the size fits the natural arc my thumb makes when I open the knife without having to choke up on the handle. Even though I have large hands I have to choke up on the Military handle to keep my thumb in the Spyder Hole throughout the opening arc when opening the the Military. With a Manix 2 or Sage 2 sized knife my hand falls into the grip and the thumb rides the Spyder Hole throughout the opening radius just perfectly.

I own several large folders that I carry and use a lot but the perfect size for me is the Manix 2 or Sage 2 size knifes. They just work great in all EDC elements, pocket footprint, weight to strength, blade length is not too small or too big, weight and overall fit.

We're not talking Spyderco or Spyderholes ReeeK - ZT0550. ;)

if you were batoning, the bladestop would take all of the punishment, not the lock

3.5 inches! Thats simply Fantastic! I'm really fired up right now about this knife. I hope Kershaw can keep up with the demand for this knife.

I'll get in line for one with a satin blade finish, PE, and NO glass breaker just as soon as its available.:thumbup::thumbup:

using the 0350 as reference length, the 0350 = 200mm OAL, 0550 208mm OAL, and Tilt 236mm. So the 0550 isn't a beast in it's present form that's for sure, and that's 208mm including the glass breaker :( . The XM-18 is 209mm. Those measurements are pretty much accurate, because the Tilt is known to be 9.5" which = roughly 240mm.

This means the 0550 is basically identical to SNG proportions (206mm).

206mm = 8.11 inchs or approximately 8 1/8 inches

Rick said 3 1/2 inches for the blade so 4 5/8ths for the length closed. All sounds good to me!!

Nice job on layout of the three knives vpsaline.

Rick's coming out with an XM-24 w/ 4" blade.....I'm drooling for one of those boy! :D
