just noticed im not the only night owl on here....maybe thomas will post that they will all be shipping next week and we should send payments for our pre-orders.
come onnnn thomas! lol

Been traveling all day. Off my time zone by a few, can't sleep, and can barely type.

I'm not sure you can blanketly say that. I've had 3 knives professionally serrated, one of which, was a Blade-Tech PH Magnum, which I sent to Mikey Vellekamp, and he personally added serrations using a powered wheel. (he did an excellent job, btw.)

Anyway, I'd really like Thomas to weigh in on this subject. As a guy who's spent the last couple of years as a member of the church of the combo-edge, I'd really like to see if I have that option with the 55X series. My, apologies that this post was moderately off-topic.
Sure, go for it. I don't look after the Warranty Dept. (no patience), but no doubt we've seen, and more than likely helped situations worse than aftermarket serrations. :) And no, you can't send your 551 in with this post as proof should something go wrong. :D

Oh well, thanks! I've been accused of a lack of discretion for praising a customization by one manufacturer... The 55X looks like a well designed knife and if I can arrange for a (relatively minor) mod from Kershaw/ZT done in-house, I'll praise that too. I'm not sure what the big deal is about this request as it pertains to this upcoming model.
Now back to the business of the day...

More pics!
Spanto! :)

We can't let this thread die off over a discussion on serrations. Where's the endless needling for pics, or for a spanto tip, or for a flipper? We can't give Thomas a break until we have this thing in our grubby little hands (or grubby big hands as the case may be)! :D

hm...i guess the pivot method didnt work for the spanto.

...i still want mine now though. lol

i cant wait for photos of the final production piece.

...more pics...

But seriously, this knife needs to sell like hotcakes just in case a monster hit will increase the chances of a true production version of the XM-18, from ZT... (flipper, spanto, of course). They could even call it the ZM-18... heh...
Heck, I'd buy such a knife, provided it stuck to the original measurements, even if it had 410 stainless instead of titanium, a sandvik blade... But that's a whole 'nother story, I guess. :)
