That's great news about the flat-grind, Rick. I'm a much bigger fan of flat grinds than hollows. And as for the recap on what's offered in the 2 runs, 750 pieces sounds like i'll have my name on 1 :-D

Wow, thats a lot of reading. You guys are relentless! Looks like a winner to me. I will most likely wind up with one, but if this knife ever becomes available with the ti-side stonewashed or flamed, I will be forced to reconsider the purchase of a SNG.

Awesome looking knife design. A very useable shape for many tasks. I will be buying one.

im hoping to try and have a go at a "flame" job myself, i think it would make it very unique and look really good as i dont see a way of messing something like that up.

this is going to be one epic blade

I have been following this thread (for what seems like forever), and I can't wait for the 55X. It'll be my first ZT, and it sure looks like a keeper!

I think one should be sent to me for evaluation purposes :) I need one of these knives!

Just a quick note guys..... I will have a booth at the upcoming USN Gathering show in Vegas and I will have the prototype 0550 with me at the show. For those of you who will be attending the show be sure to stop by the booth and ask me to see the 0550! Your more then welcome to look it over!

Sure wish I could make the USN show in Vegas...would love to check out the prototype.:thumbup:

You gotta let me know how it turns out/how you did it. If I don't do it before you that is...:D

Bump back up to the front. Can't wait for the release of this one. This will be my second ever ZT and first (solo or collaboration) Hinderer.

5.8 oz was the weight on the proto at Blade. It would be a safe
bet that the production piece will be very close to that
For me thats slightly on the heavy side. It would be nice if it could be 5oz. or less but I guess compromizes must be made. I'm looking forward to this folder.
We are closing in on 50 pages!!

He is here :)

If this knife sells like hotcakes, which it should given the known attributes (collab, steel, ergos, etc.) I would hope a larger version would soon be in the works. However, one must also consider not all areas have the same knife laws. Can't have some people showing up at work with a 4.5" folder at the office just to "slice oranges".

Yep. A great design deserves geometrically scaled and sold in 3", 3.5", and 4". That satisfies a lot of people's desires, and offers a way for people in most states to carry the design.

(I could've easily typed 3.25", 3.75", and 4.25").

Sweet Knife!
I'm thinking of getting one of these for my son that is graduating from USMC OCS next week. Really wish I could get my hand on one for graduation, but I guess I'll have to give him an IOU.
