Thanks for the pics Rick.
I am really looking forward to this as a replacement for the XM18 I no longer have. :grumpy:

wait....these are gonna be hollow ground arent they?

not a fan but as of now its my only "real" disappointment if it is...

Excellent pictures Rick. Thanks for taking the time to fill us in - we live for teasers like this.

Personally, I really like the way the blade shape and positioning allow you to "dig in" to the cutting chore at hand and put a lot of weight behind the blade without it wanting to start slicing. I'm sure there's a more scientific description out there, but for me this looks to be outstanding design for tough cutting tasks. The finger choil may be a little iffy, but the whole package looks fantastic.
In case you missed it in all these posts; the production version will not have that finger choil on it.... ;)

Been lurking and enjoying the discussion (a few trolls aside) and I'm really looking forward to getting a ZT55X to compliment my ZT302. As an equally capable, but slightly more compact knife, I'm really impressed by the features built into the knife at this price point. I hope this collaboration between R.Hinderer and Kershaw continues to be as interesting and fruitful as it has been so far. Great marketing and product development. I can't wait to use the knife as that is always the truest test, and Rick's photos make it look like a great tool.

Hey Rick, the pics of the knife in use are fantastic. Needless to say that excitement is an understatement of my feelings when I think about receiving this knife. I'm interested in seeing what you have strapped around your torso there. Give us a shot of the firepower!

The proto's are flat ground and unless someone hasn't told me the production will be flat ground as well. This blade lends itself well to a flat grind.

Tony, its just a Colt M-4 ;)

Ooops, my mistake. I thought Thomas had said a hollow grind earlier in this thread. This is excellent news though as I much prefer a flat ground blade over a hollow ground one.

Rick what were you shooting at with that Colt M-4?

Its the 6940..the monoliphic upper Colt....

Tony...just the usual cardboard targets

I added that pic because I thought the 0550 goes very well in tactical dress!
