When I saw the first pictures of the prototype, I thought that having a choil on this knife was a good idea. But now, after seeing these latest in-hand shots that you posted, Rick. I can see why you opted to remove it.

Your hand really does appear to be placed well far forward on this knife simply by the natural shape of the handle. The added bit of blade that you gain by removing that choil is really going to come in handy... :)

just to be clear: is the sprint run going to have the glass breaker?

no.
...have you read?

they said it again literally 2 pages back

yes, pvt. noballz, I read. I'm asking so I don't have to wade through it all again and don't remember seeing this specifically addressed. there are going to be differences between the sprint and production runs, have you read? I want to make sure there's going to be a glass breaker if I order one.

Have to admit to being a bit confused on what the current concept for both the regular and sprint releases of this knife will have.

Will there been the nifty glass breaker on any of the versions besides protos?
What is the blade length and other specs on these?

yes, i am well aware there are going to be differences.its going to be an option for production. not on the sprint runs. g10 patterns will differ as well.

Went through all 43 pages, and I don't think I saw anything about weight. Any estimates on weight?

5.8 oz was the weight on the proto at Blade. It would be a safe
bet that the production piece will be very close to that.

The 550 seems like it could use a glass breaker, does anyone know if the production version will have one?

From what I have read, the sprint run is first and will be something like this.

Same size as pictured already (I believe it was a 3.25" cutting edge before the choil was removed. I'll guess about a 3.65 cutting edge now, but it's just a guess.).
Stonewashed ELMAX blade.
No choil.
No glassbreaker on the solid backspacer.
Black G-10 non locking side with full liner.
Beadblasted locking side.

I forgot the .218" pivot and I'm not 100% sure it's a full liner under the G-10 side or a partial liner. After reading again Rick only said there will be a liner under the G-10 scale. Maybe full, maybe partial, maybe skeletonized? And I think 750 was the number for the sprint run?

Good last 2 posts Tony8179, that is exactly my understanding for the 1st run. Good recap ;)

I'm grateful and all, especially for Rick's new pics, but... In the interest of keeping this thread "front and center"...
...more pics...
...more info...
...more knife knutty kgoodness...

Thomas I was just wondering if a fella's name gets dropped in the hat for each post?
I think some of us would like it that way!!:D:D
