New ZT0550!!!

I randomly happened to stumble across this thread--haven't been on here in a while, pretty out of the loop I guess. Just thought I'd echo everyone elses' sentiments that this looks like a sweet design. I hope there's enough 551s to go around (**make lots!!*)--if not, I'll definitely be grabbing a 550. Hopefully the 550 design is at least finalized by the time the 551 hits the streets, so we know for sure which one we'd rather have. As much as I'd like to buy both and as impatient as I am, my poor college student wallet has already said uncle. Just like many of you, no ZTs in my collection yet, but this one just might change that. There are simply too many great designs coming out this year. As you were, gentlemen.

you know, i'm really not concerned about the time , but i want this knife to be RIGHT! i mean a centered blade & great lockup and to be RAZOR SHARP! which i think it will have.. if it's a little late ,really no big deal to me. just right...........

i'm surprised no one else chimed in to say there's now been nmore than 75,000 views on this thread! That's a TON!

And I'm super on the fence about getting on the pre-order list, but I still can't pull the trigger. It's that terrible funding problem that's holding me back. I also want to see how the 0550 turns out and then figure if it'll come down to one or the other or both?! And then of course there's the other colabs that ZT/Hinderer will have...

I don't blame you about wanting it to be done right. I know ZT will have this knife done right. Im anxious about it getting done but if it takes longer than expected thats fine with me.

So like the rest of the line...

Zing!

Seriously though, what would make someone think the 0550/0551 wouldn't be right? Have there been problems with faulty QC at ZT that I've missed? I was under the impression they made some of the best production hard use knives out there.

You are under the correct impression, never a question or a concern with Kershaw and ZT. All is well !!!

+1 to that:thumbup: This line is extremely tough, built for definite hard use, yet is has amazing fit and finish. There should be ZERO concerns about anything coming from ZERO Tolerance!!

In fact, one could say that they have zero tolerance for poor quality control.:p:D;)

I wonder how this will compare with my ZT 0301. Steel is a definite improvement, though it would depend on how hard it's heat treated. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Rc 60-62, but IIRC the datasheet suggested Rc 58-59. No flipper would leave me without a toy to play with, but I guess it would mean less parts to fail.
