Newbie collaboration knife?

Well then compared to you Scott, I'm pre-newbescent. :D Thanks for organizing this. It should be a hoot.
 
My knife making partner is really good at carving. He might do it. Yes he's a newbie too. He started knifemaking the same time as I.

Is he a member of this forum? If not, recruit him! We may or may not do carving on the knife/knives, but having that option would be nice to know during the design stages.
 
This is going to be a great knife guys. Be sure to stick together. A sooner completion is better than a later one. Things can change with individual member's circumstances to cause slower progress but just stick together as a team, no drop outs, and I bet this is going to be a killer knife package.

I'm trying to get him to join. If I get to see him at the shop this weekend I maybe able to talk to him more about it. He just finished a dragon carving for a shirasaya (sp?), it looks fantastic! He's a very talented artist. He's always so busy with running his businesses that he has a hard time finding time to do much of anything else (including forums) (which is funny because one of his businesses is computers). Cross your fingers that I get in contact with him this weekend.

I'm in. Haven't done any forging yet. Mostly a scandi grind guy, working on my first folder, okay at leatherwork.

Look at it this way. If the experts on here were to start another collaboration, would you be confident enough in your knifemaking abilities to want to be a part of it? If the answer is no, then you're welcome to join our group.

Sorry no go on the carving. He said he's got too much on his plate right now. I understand. He really does.

He wants to get better at blade making, and then move back to the handle making. Since that's what I want to do right now, I can understand where he's coming from. What is the point of having a great looking handle on a knife that looks less than good? Sorry guys.

This project isn't dead, there's emails going around off-forum. This one will be more marathon than footrace I imagine.

It's not dead at all. I think I have most of your votes on the basic knife style. I've just been busy on the referral knife and my job. If you haven't voted yet on a basic knife style, please do. We are looking at either a Khurkri/kadra combination or a Camp/hunter/hawk combination. Once we decide between those two combinations, we'll work out more specifics about each piece.

By the way, the camp/hunter/hawk combination looks to be the favorite thus far.
