Newbie KITH WIP page.

Blade satin finished to 1200. Liners glued up to scales. All I need to do is drill pin holes, Glue scales on and shape handle. I am away a fair bit over the next few weeks but will have it finished in time easily.

Well, I have a blade all cleaned up and shiny post HT that's reserved if I don't decide to make something else, I'm not 100% stuck on it being my kith knife if I get the time to explore other options. Handle material currently has two options. Option 1 is a nice set of bocote scales. Option two is black linen micarta with thin red g10 liners. Obviously the two options will drastically change the overall "feel" of the knife but either both suit the design. It's just a matter of traditional or modern styles, the blade is a fairly timeless style.

How are everyone's blades coming along?????
Handle scales should be going on mine early next week.

Mine is a spear point fighter hybrid with a coco / jade g10 handle combo and stainless accents. Really coming along beautifully if I do say so myself:D

I'm coming!!!! i am working on the handle, and currently I am doing a few handles on little knives for my own personal use becuase I have never worked with wood before. stall mat just isn't the same. it is way more forgiving.

Still awaiting my blade from heat-treating. Had a whole bunch of different stabilized wood come in yesterday... will get a picture up. Now I can't decide what I like best!

Of the 3 one is taking a clear lead, its a little thinner, and a little shorter but its looking more balanced.

Ha! Speak of the devil... with no update from the heat-treaters I emailed them today... and even before I get a response I find the package sitting on my bed at home!

I've decided to just use the dyed lacewood I had already set aside for this project. Stainless hardware... should look really good. Slabs will get glued on this weekend with some good timing!

Yep actually now that I think of it... this is PERFECT timing. Midterms just ended so I finally will have a bit of shop time after today!

Well, it's coming. I know, I know, I should have done a WIP, but I was trying to make this as good as possible, and so I wanted to concentrate. I am just cleaning up the plunges and it should be done this weekend.

I've come down with a bit of a flu... it was all I could do on Saturday to finish up some sheaths and an order... those took priority. Should be done this weekend...

Had to switch from the 440c blade to a 1095 bowie. Because my 440c was from a lousy batch that had junk in the steel, should have the bowie finished by next weekend.

Blade finished, etched and taped up. Scaled and pins epoxied. Just got to wait till the weekend to shape the handle then Im done.

All done other than sharpen. Came up a treat. Photos tomorrow or whenever it stops bloody raining. Rain in November in Perth? Who would have thunk it?

So far I like the way its turning out,
I have a Osage Orange stump (40yrs old or so) that was saved from a burn pile that I will get cut up today and should be able to have handles on by next weekend.
