Next to bed knife?

whatever i carried that day is by the bed along with everything else that was in my pockets. i prefer 00buck to a 4 inch blade for HD

if my 5-7, HK Mark23, or Mossberg 590 doesn't get the badguy, a knife ain't really gonna do much. If I had to choose a knife, it would be my ColdSteel Safekeeper 1.

I don't keep knives or guns next to me while I sleep. Ever heard the story of a guy who was sleeping and his phone rang; half asleep he picked up his gun instead of his phone and blew his own head off.

Wow, thats a scary chain of events.

I just keep my razor sharp wit with me at night. I may....may.... may be screwed.

a Barry Dawson Kogai. for me i feel inside of my apt it's too easy to get jammed up with a shotgun because of proximity. i keep a s&w snubby bedside too but the knife eases my mind more.

Knife wise I just keep my small Boker Subcom Titan but only because it doubles as my money clip.

Well, these are in the corner but if I need something for defense my shotgun and my handgun are nearby.

i can't afford a gun - but i do keep a couple of bayonets under the bed - a wenger swiss bayonet and a spanish mauser bayonet - they are not sharpened, so mentally i would not have a problem whacking an intruder in the head with one as i may with a sharp large blade...but i guess maybe i would not care if it was my life...

Several large knives are nearby, but in case of overnight cutting emergencies, I sleep with a super-modified Spyderco Native III clipped to my boxers. My Streamlight-equipped XDM is my go-to problem-solver, though. I tend to think of my Native more as a talisman of sorts. I just like having a razor sharp piece of cutlery with me at all times.

cant afford a gun? buy a Hipoint C9. cost 99 bucks used, 150 brand new. its not gonna be able to bulls eye shoot but you'll beable to put 10 9mm rounds in to someone easily at 20 yards. I have one and I love mines. I leave it in the back of my car and it already saved me once when 6 guys thought about jacking me at night...

Sound advice, however I'd recommend you at least sharpen that Swiss bayonet, I've heard they are great weapons when sharp, and if you're just inclined to 'whack an intruder in the head', there are much better tools for that, such as hammers.

Uh, well, uhm, my nightstand has a number of blades just kinda hangin' out there.

Resting gently on top is a Kershaw 3120 Black Gulch.

In the top drawer, in case an unexpected package needs my tactical attention, you will find a Buck Rush and a Kershaw Needs Work.

In the lower drawer, however, are a couple of more formidable pieces: an old Schrade 140-OT Trail Boss -- 6" of very pointy, slicey shiny stuff -- the edge has had some special attention -- and a large Marttiini hunting knife (5" Condor), along with a random Mora 2000.

Frankly, they weren't placed there with any sort of thought to tactics, although there was an evening with bumps in the night, and it occurred to me then that for up close and personal work, the Schrade had certain merit.

Actual serious defensive hardware is actually a much clunkier looking gadget, with a .355-inch grooved tunnel for ejecting copper-jacketed pellets with artistically fashioned tips at a little over the speed of sound. Noisy little sucker.

But I have every confidence that if I'm ever assaulted in my bedroom by a mob of ninja cardboard boxes, I will emerge victorious.
