I keep my Scrapizashi or waki rodent next to me.

I don't keep knives or guns next to me while I sleep. Ever heard the story of a guy who was sleeping and his phone rang; half asleep he picked up his gun instead of his phone and blew his own head off.

Like others have said, I always have whatever i was carrying for the day on my nightstand, along with my mag-lite.... and my Wetterling's large hunting axe.

I keep all of my knives in my room, the one thats closest to my bad is a crkt my tighe and a cold steel bolo machete, i dont really like the machete but its big, sharp and has a bit of rust on it

I keep a CS Recon Tanto in arms reach. I would probably go for the katana I also have in my room. I know it is not a practical weapon due to confined space. I'm counting on just the sight of that thing making any intruder bolt.

CS Pocket Bushman under a few books, within arm's reach. CS Trailhawk next to the dresser (well out of arm's reach). I have a very, very strong defense reaction, so I'd rather have something that forces me to be well awake before I can use it.

Considering about 3/4s of all the knives I own are in my nightstand(Its 4ft 1 by 2ft 8 by 1ft 7 ) and on top is a meat cleaver and a 12inch pipewrench and a 16inch crescent wrench on the floor and my mutant bastard machete thing leaning up on the left of it- I'm ok
and this isn't considering any other items in my little sanctum...

i keep a CS Recon Tanto, 6 cell Mag Light and a S&W Mod 629 loaded w/ 240grain 44Mag Flying Ashtrays, that should hopefully get me to my closet where i keep an 870 and 2 bandelleros. I also have a Wife that wont sleep without her Glock 19 near by, she's the light sleeper and the one to watch out for. The nightstand is loaded up with back issues of Blade Magazine and American Rifleman.
