My money, My decision.
This is the strategy of Mike Stewart as someone mentioned: :D
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
while i've never actually bought anything from him,i have seen first hand how he attaches himself to a forum like a giant attention whoring leech.

1.shows up at forum posting lots of pictures of knives he has for sale
2.gives owner of forum a few freebies
3.becomes "knife mod"
4.more free knives to admin,a few raffles,giveaways
5.becomes "super mod"
6.uses forum as free advertisement/web presence,
7.all dissenting/critical opinions edited or deleted

I didn't mean to participate(feed the troll) in any trolling,if that's what he was doing.

Me neither.Unfortunately,because they make good knives:(,but I can't in good conscience,support a crook.:thumbdn:...& when I seen on the "Rip off Report" their A2 may not even be that,well that was the final straw.

I'm looking into getting a custom made Rogue in 3V,at this time,from one of our honest makers on these forums.

can i have the a2 link? i dont own any bark rivers but i am curious.

found it thanks

swiftproposal = Saudi Scammer = banned.

www.ripoffreport.com and do a search for bark river. I would be skeptical though..this is one single unsubstantiated report.

Just as I suspected. I have one of the supposed questionable knives, the mini skinner. If this is bottom of the barrel steel then someone has worked miracles with it because it's nothing like bottom barrel steel I have seen, unless there is another definition of bottom barrel steel.

Actually using my first bark river knife is what influenced me to get more. I did side by side tests on a couple bark rivers and swamp rats in my yard, batoning wood, carving and whittling, punching through a can, and for whatever reason the barkies came out on top. I was not expecting that.

Nothing against my swampies, but bottom feeder steel would not have performed like that.

I think the coating on the swamp rat hinders slicing and the chip in my camp tramp blade is just a fluke.

Well, KF is owned by Mike Stewart. Of course, it's in part an advertising forum, of sorts, for his products. But, I assume you are talking about BF. [To disclose all, I was banned from KF when I challenged Mike Stewart on his knowledge of knife geometry. I was actually accused of being Lynn Thompson - whom I didn't even know existed. The paranoia over there is legendary.]

I don't think your criticism within this forum is entirely fair. My understanding is that Mike Stewart was banned from BF. He may be posting here as "JimConvex" from time to time. Some reported this to me months ago.

Also, Mike Stewart's reputation in the field is not exactly shiny. He allegedly did to Marbles what many accuse Dark Ops of doing to Extreme Ratio. Quite frankly, the legal issues (if any) between these companies do not interest me. I just want the best knife for the price.

So, I don't know if you're just trying to get a rise out of us (which you did) or if you're willing and able to document your assertions. Either way, put up or shut up. For the record, I don't especially like Mike Stewart, but you're really going overboard. I don't and wont' apologize for my sentiments, but I've been out there posting for some time and people can see that I've had a major "turn-around" at least in regard to his knives. BTW, I own a very nice BRKT Boone II and will likely purchase more knives from this knife-tyrant! He didn't offer me a free one.

But, let's get over things that are really trivial matters. I have, and if I can, so can you. Let it go, man.

I don't know about his presence or actions on KF, as I don't go there much. I am disgusted by the recent 16K ripoff though (which in his defense he did end up paying back). That though was a direct result of the public call out IMO. See the thread here at the Good, Bad and Ugly forum. There seems to also be some dubious past actions as well.

I will continue to look into it, but as of right now, I don't see myself buying any more knives from Bark River. Its a shame, they are nice knives.

There are too many reputable companies and makers out there for me to spend my money with one that is guilty of questionable (to put it lightly) actions.

I thought James Nowka did.

By "our forums" I think he means the forums on those two sites that are dedicated to Bark River knives, not that he owns those two forums.

I know this:
- I own nine Bark River knives, and I love each one of them;
- I don;t have business dealings with BRKT so I'm not really concerned (personally) with that (though I could sympathize);
- I had a problem with the scale on a Highland impala horn coming loose. BRKT fixed it up in reasonable time and made it better than it originally was;
- I still want an Aurora, a Bird and Trout, a Canadian Special, a mini-Montana Guide, a Blackwater Boot Knife, and a Hudson Bay Camp knife;
- If someone doesn;t want any more Bark Rivers, or if they refuse to even buy their first, well then...... more for me and those like-minded....

I also have to agree with Gitarmac: If BRKT's steel is no good, then maybe the altitude of air shipment made each of my knives into some grade-A steel......
