All this talk about Rush - I didn't know there were so many fans on the forum.

I sold Geddy Lee a bicycle back in the late 80s when I was working at a high-end bike store. I also have friend who used to mow his lawn in the summer. For a "rock star" he seemed pretty down to earth.

My cat likes to chase the laser pointer in the snow. It's hilarious. He'll ask me to make it appear. Then he likes to come inside.

Oh, and I really really don't like Rush.

Speaking of down to earth "rock stars"... My senior year in college (U of Missouri-Rolla, 1985), I worked at a brand new low-power (5W) TV station in town. Tom Shipley lived in the area on a little farm and got a job there doing audio and eventually producing his own show ("The Ozark Fisherman"). I started on graphics doing the credits and stuff, but became the favored shoulder-held cameraman for his show and the news. Being 6'2" and 185 lbs (then...I think I've added about 90 lbs since then), worked to my advantage in getting good, stable camera shots. Tom was a hoot to work with. I learned a lot about audio mixing and video editing by watching him. He also came to the graduation party at the house I had a room in, and helped with the celebration. Last I checked, the school (renamed Missouri S&T) owned the TV station and he was doing most of the production work. He and Michael Brewer are also on the road touring in their spare time. I realize Brewer and Shipley were considered "one hit wonders", but they put out a lot of good (imo) music that just didn't get air play.

Have always heard that about them.. how they would be drinking coffee and reading in their dressing room while other bands were getting rock star crazy.. I think I saw an interview with KISS where they were talking about Rush being down to earth and laid back.

Hahaha, yes! My brother is a sound engineer for like 25 years now.. at one point we had a rig put together for about a 1000 person capacity night club sitting in the garage/ practice room.. he is also a drummer. I would wake up in the morning and put on the Pantera, Slayer, Anthrax..etc. In the summer, the kids at the city pool across the street would come over to request songs.. I always told them I can play anything as long as it is metal \m/ :D Best part about rocking the neighborhood at 125 dB at 10 in the morning is that no one is home to call the cops on you..

lol Worldwood.. they threw a Pepsi mention in there for you too..

I have nothing to add to the current line of discussion.

I have no dog either so nothing to that line of discussion either.

So, to derail the thread, at least if anyone reads this. There is a new show on Food Network called "Cutthroat Kitchen" which is kind of hilarious! It's an Alton Brown show so you know it's awesome!

I don't think we can be friends anymore. :grumpy:

Just kiddin' man. Like whatever you like. I never understood folks who get all wound up about other people's choice in tunes, or food or liquor or whatever. That's some high-school nonsense for sure. When I was in school I listened to everything from hardcore punk to thrash to old Sabbath to classical to Zeppelin to blues... and some nitwits are really threatened by that

Is that a competition? I can't get into those at all, and I never heard of Alton Brown. At least I read your post though :p

In other news, I'm going to start saying "bully!" a lot more.

Alton Brown is a great host. We loved him in Good Eats. He made molecular gastronomy interesting.

Well until I etch, strip and add scales to my BK16 to make it the Bushcraft knife I want(probably starting tomorrow), a new tactical bushcrafter came in yesterday. I had always wanted to get a second one(they're just nice knives, and great slicers), but this time around I personalized it and got some TKC scales.

Did you know Philadelphia makes a 'dark chocolate cream cheese spread'?
Did you know it's AWESOME mixed into oatmeal?
You do now.

When I had my grandma's pug out here, I would take him on daily walks around the property.

He would start shivering at anything under 50 degrees. Most people wouldn't think of a pug as a woods dog, but my golly he loved it.:D

Made a mask for it and three more coats of linseed oil. I'm calling my axe project finished. It's ready to ride the river.
