No Vacation! Starring Snark W. Griswold

That was one of the worst storms I've ever been in. I knew there was a storm coming, but I didn't realize how bad. I drove to the car wash, to put my car in the bay to avoid hail damage. I get the tornado warning. Sirens going off, raining like crazy. I could see branches blowing in front of the stall. A transformer was arcing like the sun, etc. Trees and giant branches down all over town. I have a bit of video I'll post later on. I drove home, and there were two big branches in the front yard. Belonged to the neighbors tree. We already chainsawed and moved it out of the road. Crazy ass weather. Looking at the bright side of things, the temp dropped from 90° to 69°.

good to hear you're all OK -- and I'm jealous of your cool-off.
we had intermittent downpours until 3 or so, then the sun came out and made it steamy.

That's the way it was earlier at work. Had a quick system go through, then the sun popped back out. Been freaking muggy as hell here lately.

Here's the videos I took. Spliced them together. Better if you make the screen full size, and turn up the volume, haha. You can hear the siren going off, and on about the 3rd section, and on a few more, you can see the transformer arcing to the right. The photos are of my front yard when I got home:

In my many travels I spent a week in Mittenwald and climbed Westliche Karwendelspitze and the Zugspitze. It looks like the same beautiful area. Nice pics Brother.

Wow! Mother Nature has a way of humbling us doesn’t she!

Before I moved to Hawaii I grew up in Iowa, so I have many memories of how bi-polar and severe the weather can be.

Massive tornadoes, large scale flooding, hail, snow drifts and ice, intense muggy heat, severe wind chill, lightning, etc.

I remember how scary it could be, but also I remember how resilient the community was on helping each other and cleaning up.

I also remember thinking how freakin’ awesome weather is!

what's the skinny little knife?
It's the adventurecraft by exodusknifeandtool. Small batches by an enthousiast, he lets a local knife producer make them and he sells them mainly though his Instagram page. I think it's 1085 but I'm not sure anymore. Nice little thing. I found it to be very reminiscent of the esee cr2.5 but ground thinner with a longer blade. That last one comes in quite handy when tackling some veggies and fruits like tomatoes, apples... The price on these semi customs was very nice too since they came with the kydex.

Wow that’s some crazy ass footage. Glad you sailed thru safe and sound.

Looks nice; a thinner version of the 2.5 is exactly what I’m looking for in a bird and trout. Well, since my dream of a Becker B&T doesn’t seem like it’s gonna happen anytime soon. I’ll have to look them up.

It has been confirmed that we did have a tornado. About two miles north of where my house is.

I think I had a mini tornado in my backyard around 7pm tonight. Blew my 300lb 10x10 gazebo right over my 6ft fence. Crazy!

Crazy ass weather. I saw a short video of the tornado. They said it was on the ground for about a minute. It was a skinny tornado, that stretched across the sky before hitting the ground.

Ready for some more scenic pics? I'm giving my legs quite the workout here. Where I live they have the second to largest hill in the whole province at 48m above sea level. This is another cup of tea. A 10 mile hike at home is a breeze. In Austria, not so much. But the reward you're getting is so worthwhile.

Here's some more...
