I have to wait until morning to find out. The hail wasn't near as large as the last time we had it. I'm working on getting one of those portable carports, but the town I live in wants a structure to be 7 feet off the property line. If I put an 18 foot wide carport there, it only leaves about 2 feet to the line. So, I have to get a work permit so it can be denied, then file for a variance. Then, it has to go through 2 sessions by the city council, to get it approved. If they approve it, then you have to pay $300 for the variance, in order to put it in. So, instead of it costing $2,200 for the carport, it would cost an extra $300 for the variance, and another $30 for the work permit to put it there. Damn this town sucks. That said, it's still worth it.Ouch. Any damage?
It looked like it was going to go north of us, but it kind of turned at the last minute. I could see it coming. You could see it falling down in the distance, along with the pinkish sky.The one here tracked about 5 miles south of the house.

Yeah, it sucks. Better than paying a fine though. To me, it's worth the $300 all day long t be able to have a carport though. I called the building inspector, he gave me the 411. I also asked him about rocking the driveway, which I need no permit for, and also about building a floating deck over the concrete in the back of the house, and yep, need another $30 permit for that, haha.
Isn’t it always a treat to need permission to do stuff on your own property?
Sounds like a good idea though to keep the vehicle under cover and lengthen it’s value.
I had to apply for a permit to paint my front door.![]()
