Oh dont get me wrong, that was why injected the whole "semi auto" and "opinion" into it. I have not had a chance to try out one of those S&W .22's, but I believe you ;) pound for pound, round for round though... Its hard to beat a 22/45. I have not found a more reliable, rugged, or accurate .22 auto. It will chug any type of .22LR you put in it and do it with extreme accuracy. I'd venture to say its just as accurate as any .22 rifle I have shot. Not to mention its a hell of a lot of fun to shoot. Love it.

Edited to say that probably not as accurate as an old .22LR pump action I used to have, or a .22 Garand trainer I've shot. Still though...

I have a Ruger Standard that was the first handgun I bought. Its very accurate, but a bit finicky with ammo. I think there were some improvements in the Mark 1 and 2 but they are all nice pistols until you need to take them apart that is a nightmare!

Maybe the best .22 auto but certainly not the best .22 pistol

That looks really handy.

I haven't fired a .22 pistol in decades... last time I did, it was my uncle/godfather's revolver. I think it was a Ruger? Might have been an offshore copy, I honestly don't recall. Definitely single-action, though, I remember that very clearly.

He was really accurate with it out to 30 paces or so... I mean scary accurate. I remember him dropping a whitetail doe like a stone with it at roughly 20 yards, with one head-shot in the dark, while I held his flashlight. "Pop"... food. Thanks!

That's probably a story for another time :o

Me, not so much. Although it didn't take him long to teach me to put three rounds in a "minute of beer can" group. That pistol was easy to point and control, even for a dimwit kid like me.

2nd day in a row for postal delivery failure. :grumpy: Didn't even snow, just temps barely into double digits. Now I have TWO packages I'm waiting for. USPS again says they "left notice". HA! There's snow in my mailbox. :( Nothing to be done...perhaps if I don't fall asleep immediately after dinner I'll get my bench a little cleaner. Been looking at a Craftsman 2x42 sander/grinder. It's probably one of the few tools I don't have .....looks to be a reasonably priced and decent machine for an entry point......

They just cancelled two days of school for my son due to projected temperatures.

They're cancelling stuff around here left and right too, for the upcoming snow, and temps.

I have one. Lots of guys here recommend them to start on. Im not an expert but its been worth WAY more than I paid for it.

Erd, that's a beautiful knife.

Hoping you all get through the winter okay. It's 38 degrees Celsius here right now and only getting hotter. Sitting in the AC again, gonna watch a movie soon.

Bloody hell! 38 is approaching sweltering. What's the humidity like?

The Hoffman ESEE-CM6 is pretty sweet:

Looks interesting. I could do without the sharpened swedge though.

Very nice. Right now I'm settling for a Heritage Rough Rider convertible and a firestorm .22 for my .22 pistols and conversion kits for my glock and 1911. They don't suck by any means or I would have sold them off, but they are not finely crafted things of beauty, that's for sure. I'd like to get a ruger single 10, bearcat, .22sp101 and .22lr LCR.

Their predicting a high of -10 on Monday with a windchill of -50 or so degrees. I guess I'll need to wear a hoodie to school...
