Doc, they used to have a really nice wide toe box. I think they've gone to different shoe lasts lately because they don't feel the same now. Those boots in the pic are about ten years old.

I have a hard time finding boots to fit me. I need to go somewhere and get some good boots. I usually wear Wolverines, but I found out while hiking Taum Sauk Mountain, they weren't worth a crap.
I wear steel toes everywhere except the river. I usually wear Doc Marten's Industrials. Go get properly fitted man, it's like getting the right pack and having it fitted.
No problem, I think the fellas you mentioned will have better suggestions than I do. I learned from the military, I go heavy.
I tend to go heavy too......Infantry, go figure.
I hear awful stuff about gout, Moose suffers from that as well. I have flat feet, even had to have a waiver to enlist. My feet aren't too picky, I've beat the hell out of them and have only had athlete's foot once.

I need to. I really don't have big feet, just 11's in a boot, but I have a wide foot, with a high instep.
That reminds me. I haven't mailed anybody a giant turd in some time now. Must be mellowing.
I have "low volume" feet as well; not so much the width, but no instep (makes fitting "hard boots" really challenging). I worked with sporting footwear and ski boot fitting for a few years. Anything Salomon made fit my foot type. Ski boots, mountaineering boots, sneakers....like they were all made on one last. Maybe I just share the French "foot type"; they are the only company whose footwear I'll buy over the internerd> It was a long time ago, but one of the major things I took away from those jobs is that ya gotta control the midfoot - and the rest, as long as it's a happy medium, will take care of itself. I think I'm a little bit of a footwear geek. Like somehow, better gear for my feet will improve my "performance". HA! What "performance"! I'm going out for a walk.....Opposite for me. I need a 12B or my foot slides around too much, and the lack of instep doesn't help. Ten years or so ago, I did find a decent pair of Hi-Tec brand hiking boots that are Gore-Tex lined that work well. Made in China, of course, but they did keep my feet dry crossing the creek on my first pig hunt here. And they've held up pretty well.
I just made an interesting discovery. You can take one of these:
