My day was not as much fun as cbear's:
- pulled weeds in the blackberry patch, the back lawns and several flower beds
- cleaned the gutters of the garage
- hauled a pick-up load of pecan limbs, weeds and leaves to the burn pile
- threw some prototype throwing Bowies 100+ times - flew pretty good, more testing needed. may decide to modify them somewhat after a few more K throws.

In the turkey blind waiting for a big old tom to think one of my decoys are sexy. I hope I get to use my BK-15 today.

This is what I was up to today.

How was it CBear? I love Bolèro. Such a magnificent piece. My dad played it for me when I was young (along with a myriad of other classical compositions) but that one was always my favorite. It would have been truly spectacular seeing it played by a live orchestra. Speaking of which, what orchestra did you have the pleasure of watching and listening to?

Am I the only one that associates Bolero with Bo Derek?

On a serious note, having grown up 50 miles south of St. Louis, I still like the St. L Symphony Orchestra. My immensely talented (and like many artists, immensely dysfunctional) younger brother played violin for one of the orchestras in the area for a while, although I can't remember which one.

Spent the weekend watching stuff that goes vroom vroom with my parents and a friend. Pics and a video in a bit.

Saturday...

Here's a Nissan GTR going 204 MPH.

Sorry for the pic heavy-ness. :o :D

Shee-IT! Dat's fugly. Luckily, you're young...I hear you heal faster. Me, I try to keep from finding out how age has slowed my healing ability.....

Hah yeah its pretty ugly.

I hear ya, I used to heal like Marvel's 'Wolverine' (almost instantly), I find things have been taking twice as long as normal to get done now. I'm sure the length of time just increases as age progresses

Looks like a fun day out at the racetrack!

That looks like a lot of fun! There was (still is, actually) a 1/4-mile asphalt track about a mile down the road from my old place in WI that I went to several times over the years... last year Angie took me to my first clay track race just down the road past Maryville.

It was pretty fun. The cars weren't really racing, it was mainly rich guys seeing how fast they could make their car go before something blew up. A couple 150k+ engines blew up while we were there.

The motorcycles were really cool. One guy went every 20 seconds and raced against the clock around two 3 mile tracks 3 times on each track. It wasn't a GNCC race but a lot of the big name GNCC riders were there. A couple of them are going to the International Six Day Enduro.

I've never been to a car race like that James, closest I've been to is a motorcycle dirt track race. Looks like it'd be fun to watch.

Also, first play practice tonight.. Hopefully it works.

It's awesome because you can sit so close to the track, you don't just hear the cars, you can feel your ribs rattling when they roar past you :D. And at a clay track like that one, you will come home covered in red dirt (bring safety glasses if you want to sit close).

We try to go to at least one Smokies game and one local race every year. Tickets to local ballparks and racetracks like that are pretty affordable too... it's lot of family-friendly entertainment value :)

I still have a StatePark Speedway t-shirt and a Wisconsin Woodchucks hat from back home... the hat is autographed by Jim Gantner (former Milwaukee Brewers catcher who managed them for a while) and a pitcher who played for them and rented a room from some friends of mine while he was there. My kid has a couple signed baseballs (from foul balls). :)

seems like James's lion got out of the cage while he's at the Gathering and is attempting to communicate.

That's just my inner bear peeking out. Don't be alarmed, he's mostly harmless. Although he might break into your beer cooler when you're not looking... :p

rawr...

Would that be closer to 'Yogi Bear' or 'Pooh Bear'?

Pillaging pick nick baskets, or going for that sweet honey pot ;)

lulz snark.

I felt some semblance of rattling ribs (:D) at the motorcycle race yesterday, I was hanging from a tree on the bank right beside the track to take pictures and they went within about 1.5 feet of me. :D I didn't get covered in mud, but I got really dusty.

I've been to a Salem Redsocks game, it was pretty fun. Got a ball and got it signed. The tickets were cheap for a good show like you said.

That's cool that you have a hat signed by the pros.

Speaking of autographs, I scored this over the weekend...

New BK-11 signed by Ethan at his house. I'm not normally a safe-queen guy at all, and it's really difficult for me to not beat the heck out of and/or mod pretty much anything I get my paws on... but I think I will keep that one pristine. :)

A little of both, plus the famous Terrio Magic... with a fair share of this guy thrown in for good measure...

IIRC the publisher's demanded that Isabel Gaines actually edit the original name of this children's book. It was first titled "Pooh gets stuck: the unforgiving ailment of constipation".

Oh and by the way young Dawso, I saw that cheeky orange handle of your BK14 in those shots. But I somehow think you weren't trying to hide it were you. Damn I wish we could carry knives in public..

Dang JT, that's cool. Smooth and roll stamped too isn't it?

Darn publishers. Our wee toddlers need to learn the dangers of constipation. :grumpy:

And no, it wasn't meant to be hidden. Not sure about West Virginia (where the race was), but here in Virginia we've gotta open carry any fixed blade. It saw some use cutting some of the excess on the ribbons that made a "fence" around the track so we could help repair what had fallen. Carved my initials in a couple of trees, too. ;)

Smooth as fine bourbon. You'd have to ask one of the Becker mods or a Ka-Bar rep about the roll-stamping thing to be sure; AFAIK this is the newest version. I have not, and will not use this actual particular knife for obvious reasons, but it makes me want to get another with same treatment and beat it like a rented mule just to see what happens. I'm not a big fan of coatings in general, but this is pretty dang nice.

 truth. Distended bowels from impacting feces ain't a laughing matter! everybody poops, and needs to do it as often as possible.
