Well, it's done. We bought a house in Hamilton. Take possession at the end of the month and fully move in by June 15. Told our landlords and they were relieved - they are selling their house where we rent! Lots of planning on how to turn the garage into a proper climbing training facility. Ridge beam, insulation, new wiring, climbing wall plans, lighting, flooring, climbing holds - all being sorted as we speak. If we have time, we might even do some work on the house.

I'll be up to train on July 1. Congrats, Gus.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to give a massive thank you to all and everyone here in BeckerBurg just for being such amazing people. I truly love it here and genuinely think of you all as my friends. I've belonged to a reasonable amount of forums before and never have I felt as welcomed as I have here. This place really does feel like home to me. My love of knives is obviously shared, and then some, and the stuff I've learnt and been a part of here has really humbled me. I have, on rare occasion, delved into some of the other areas here (holy crap NEVER go into 'the cove', W.E.I.R.D!) but I very quickly think "nup, back to hang with my buddies". I get a real kick when I see you peeps reply to my (often completely non-productive) antics just as I love having (an often completely non-productive) input into the threads here. Guys like the Omega Biscuit, the almighty Trade, Moose the 45th and Murph, I appreciate and love your kooky but wise guidance. Fellas like Jerry D, hhmoore, Dubz, Dunkem, TravisH, GSOM, TBL, GSO, Abrasion, Dresnor, Bighoss, FA'LER and the like, I love hearing your input always. The cool kids in the corner daizee, James Terrio, 710, peanut butter man WorldWood (best of luck with the move mate, can't wait for you and yours to get out of that deathtrap shithole), Dex, Maus, TMHunt and all the other geniuses behind the files, you guys truly rock. Zzyzz and your encyclopaedic knowledge of.. wow.. nearly everything and Salty your philosophic viewpoints. Our European buddies Maethor and Endel (and I know there's others). Then there's my nutty as elephant shit mates like silverthorn, Ulf and the truly Illustrious NCSlice, LOVE hangin with you guys. Nos, I've never conversed with such a well rounded, intelligent and stand up 15yo ever, the ladies of the crowd, NikkiR, Mrs. C and Copperhead88, it's SOOO COOL to know that women love knives as much as men (and I truly don't mean that condescendingly) and to my really great bud Gassy, you're simply a gentleman. It's a pleasure knowing you and being your compatriate.

Now I know there's a lot of names I have forgotten to mention (please forgive me) but I know who you are. Why? Because you hang here and you are ALL, everyone of you, simply wonderful folks. I'm not trying to get all mushy I just wanted to vent my appreciation for making me feel like one of the clan. You're all probably thinking "hang on, he's forgotten someone". But no.

To the magnificent, elusive but strangely omnipresent Ethan, your knives have brought us here under a common flag. The blades you have created are the most incredible pieces of highly functional art. I can't articulate fully, to the extent my grasp on the English language will allow, how much I find these edged beauties truly delightful. Not only have they enriched my life by giving me an honestly amazing hobby but they have led me here to all these fine folks. You are a King amongst men Mr. Becker, not just because of your skill with steel but utmostly for the fact you are the epitomy of a gentleman. I doth my hat to you and bow solemnly.

Once again folks, I'm very sorry if I forgot to mention you, but my minds eye knows who you all are. I am but humbled to be here with you all. Feel free to snark my head off for forgetting to thank you personally :D

BECKERHEADS FOR LIFE!!!! (Hang on, wait. I'm not a Beckerhead yet. Sheeeeeet Stimpy. Anyone seen Mewz?.. Oops sorry, being patient. Still. Trying. To. Be. Patient)

Love Springy..

I know, I'm way behind, catching up on work, house work, yard work, and snark work haha. Well said Springy! We joined not too far apart and it's amazing how quickly these folks took us in and supported our addiction! I feel the same way and its great having you around for a bunch of laughs! Thanks to everyone else too!

Congrats Gus!! Cant wait to see the pics of your finished climbing facility!!

My closing got delayed till the 15th. Not due to any major issues or anything, but the people im buying the house from couldnt close on the house they are buying until the 15th.... And we are getting a discount for having the paperwork done at the same time, by the same person. So just a few more days and then hopefully i can say im in the same boat!!

So at the Gathering Todd had these handy dandy Patrol Machaxen and only had enough sheath for two. I gave my BK9 sheath to Ole Jerry, but that left me without a sheath for my BK9. Realizing that this was a subtle move by my subconscious to get me to make a kydex sheath for it, I complied.

By far one of the most difficult I have made, mostly because I hit the maximum envelope of what my kydex press can handle, and was against the wall to begin with as I didn't have any larger pieces to try again if I screwed up, so I was extra careful whilst doing this. 27 holes later, 54 nylon washers (this is one of my sheaths with the "air welt" open sided design) and quite a lot of filing and sanding and my 9 is in some decent pants again.

Also, watching the latest episode of Naked and Afraid. Looks like the M18 is doing it's darndest to keep that poor guy alive.

Looks great! Lord almighty that's a sh!t ton of eyelets. Thanks for the idea of using that strapping material I had for a strope, it works great even without compound. If I ever find my stick I'll infuse a piece and try it out.

The BK9's new pants look great. Damn, that's a lot of eyelets.... BTW, Your stock sheath was much appreciated!I took that general "running with scissors" concept to a whole new level.

Good luck with that man, I know you gotta be anxious. And you'll be settled in just in time for hurricane season! Haha, from some adventures of yours I've seen, a hurricane would be welcomed.

Looks like a competitor for world's largest necker sheath. :D:D

Yeah I turned it on last nite a little late and thought Hunt had put a horrendous sawback on his M18…gonna have to download the proper episode tonight methinks.

LoL that was the Gerber Gator JR. love when the guy is like 'this thing isn't sharp at all anymore!' on like day 2 haha.

Congrats Gus! You'll be closer to us in the summer! :D Anytime your driving by you know who you can call for a beer!

Finished up the trail hawk for my neighbors son. Sure didn't take long to mod. Removed the set screw, stripped the head, ground the eye socket, sanded the handle, gave it some slight burn marks, a light coat of red mahogany stain, and a coat of danish oil. Only took a few hours. Crappy indoor photos. The lighting makes it look lighter than it really is:

 Looking sweet warrior!

Thanks man. It was fun to do. I may get another for myself one of these days. Just got some firesteels in the mail today. Need to get started on a wood handle for it.

I sat in the dentist chair today for about 2 and a half hours for a root canal, haha. Everything went well, but damn that sucked. Wasn't aware it took so long.
