I want to get a few of them, and set up a target in the back yard ;) All things in due time!

Damn, I don't remember the last time I've been to a dentist :foot: I just brush regularly and every once in a while ask my mother in law to check me out ;) shes a retired dental hygienist.

1) Big step Gus, best of luck on the new house.

2) Still think it could use a few more eyelets.

3) Fine job on the hawk Dubz, he should be proud to have that.

4) CPM154 when properly done is my favorite knife steel. It kills S30V.

Good luck with that man, I know you gotta be anxious. And you'll be settled in just in time for hurricane season! Haha, from some adventures of yours I've seen, a hurricane would be welcomed.

Thanks brother, more than a little anxious LOL

I dont mind hurricane season. During my first ~20 years living there we got hit with quite a few, but where im/will be located at was never hit too bad thankfully. I remember more hurricane parties than hurricane damage LOL

I sat in the dentist chair today for about 2 and a half hours for a root canal, haha. Everything went well, but damn that sucked. Wasn't aware it took so long.

Glad everything went well. But that sure seems like a long time when i consider they pulled 28 teeth out of my mouth in less than an hour and a half. Close to an hour flat. My wife said she thought the surgeon was coming to tell her there was a problem or the surgery had to be delayed or something when he came and got her to bring her back after the surgery.... Course, i dont remember anything from the time the surgeon said "enjoy your nap" till i was "walking" to the car to go home. But i was amazed how quickly it was done... And done well too. My wife's 2 wisdom teeth took longer to extract as well... Hell i still had 2 of my wisdoms left too. That guy must have just sliced down my jaws and hammered all the teeth out LOL

Nice hawk too :D

Oh it will get more. Just you wait and see...

Thanks man. The tooth was borderline, needing either just a filling, pulling it, or a root canal. He said the cavity was very close to the nerve, that I could either do nothing, and wait until it hurt to pull it, get it pulled now, or do a root canal, and get it crowned. I opted for the root canal. A filling would have only been $2 after insurance, haha. I made them discount it a bit, because they were supposed to set up an appointment for me the last time they said it needed filled, and didn't. They knocked $100 off the price. It was only $116 for a root canal, and a crown, after the discount, and insurance. Without the insurance it would have been $1,600.

So at the Gathering Todd had these handy dandy Patrol Machaxen and only had enough sheath for two. I gave my BK9 sheath to Ole Jerry, but that left me without a sheath for my BK9. Realizing that this was a subtle move by my subconscious to get me to make a kydex sheath for it, I complied.

17525122895_8ace94110b_b.jpg

By far one of the most difficult I have made, mostly because I hit the maximum envelope of what my kydex press can handle, and was against the wall to begin with as I didn't have any larger pieces to try again if I screwed up, so I was extra careful whilst doing this. 27 holes later, 54 nylon washers (this is one of my sheaths with the "air welt" open sided design) and quite a lot of filing and sanding and my 9 is in some decent pants again.

Dang, I like it. I've been thinking for a while now it would be nice to see some sheaths that were squared off at the tip end to make mounting stuff to the sheath easier, and the more eyelets the better.

BTW I have two full pieces of foam (8x24" I think) for pressing kydex and some black .08 kydex, might be a full sheet. I've given up on making sheaths myself so you can have it.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to give a massive thank you to all and everyone here in BeckerBurg just for being such amazing people. I truly love it here and genuinely think of you all as my friends. I've belonged to a reasonable amount of forums before and never have I felt as welcomed as I have here. This place really does feel like home to me. My love of knives is obviously shared, and then some, and the stuff I've learnt and been a part of here has really humbled me. I have, on rare occasion, delved into some of the other areas here (holy crap NEVER go into 'the cove', W.E.I.R.D!) but I very quickly think "nup, back to hang with my buddies". I get a real kick when I see you peeps reply to my (often completely non-productive) antics just as I love having (an often completely non-productive) input into the threads here. Guys like the Omega Biscuit, the almighty Trade, Moose the 45th and Murph, I appreciate and love your kooky but wise guidance. Fellas like Jerry D, hhmoore, Dubz, Dunkem, TravisH, GSOM, TBL, GSO, Abrasion, Dresnor, Bighoss, FA'LER and the like, I love hearing your input always. The cool kids in the corner daizee, James Terrio, 710, peanut butter man WorldWood (best of luck with the move mate, can't wait for you and yours to get out of that deathtrap shithole), Dex, Maus, TMHunt and all the other geniuses behind the files, you guys truly rock. Zzyzz and your encyclopaedic knowledge of.. wow.. nearly everything and Salty your philosophic viewpoints. Our European buddies Maethor and Endel (and I know there's others). Then there's my nutty as elephant shit mates like silverthorn, Ulf and the truly Illustrious NCSlice, LOVE hangin with you guys. Nos, I've never conversed with such a well rounded, intelligent and stand up 15yo ever, the ladies of the crowd, NikkiR, Mrs. C and Copperhead88, it's SOOO COOL to know that women love knives as much as men (and I truly don't mean that condescendingly) and to my really great bud Gassy, you're simply a gentleman. It's a pleasure knowing you and being your compatriate.

Now I know there's a lot of names I have forgotten to mention (please forgive me) but I know who you are. Why? Because you hang here and you are ALL, everyone of you, simply wonderful folks. I'm not trying to get all mushy I just wanted to vent my appreciation for making me feel like one of the clan. You're all probably thinking "hang on, he's forgotten someone". But no.

To the magnificent, elusive but strangely omnipresent Ethan, your knives have brought us here under a common flag. The blades you have created are the most incredible pieces of highly functional art. I can't articulate fully, to the extent my grasp on the English language will allow, how much I find these edged beauties truly delightful. Not only have they enriched my life by giving me an honestly amazing hobby but they have led me here to all these fine folks. You are a King amongst men Mr. Becker, not just because of your skill with steel but utmostly for the fact you are the epitomy of a gentleman. I doth my hat to you and bow solemnly.

Once again folks, I'm very sorry if I forgot to mention you, but my minds eye knows who you all are. I am but humbled to be here with you all. Feel free to snark my head off for forgetting to thank you personally :D

BECKERHEADS FOR LIFE!!!! (Hang on, wait. I'm not a Beckerhead yet. Sheeeeeet Stimpy. Anyone seen Mewz?.. Oops sorry, being patient. Still. Trying. To. Be. Patient)

Love Springy..

Catching up on snark after a GREAT weekend with the Northeast gang.....and this sums it up nicely. If you lived somewhere in this hemisphere you'd have actual, real friends and not just internet friends. But still....better than nothing....;)

This is how it should be... everywhere.

Funny thing, NH has no carry restrictions of significance (since about 2004 when the laws were re-written)....and surprisingly, there has NOT been an increase in knife related violence. Maybe we're all just too chill. Or maybe, just maybe.....being able to carry a double edged automatic doesn't make you a knife-wielding maniac like some would think. My only pressing problem is that I don't carry 90% of what I own most days because I am likely to cross the border to a neighboring state (or two) that is not so enlightened as our own.

Well, it's done. We bought a house in Hamilton. Take possession at the end of the month and fully move in by June 15. Told our landlords and they were relieved - they are selling their house where we rent! Lots of planning on how to turn the garage into a proper climbing training facility. Ridge beam, insulation, new wiring, climbing wall plans, lighting, flooring, climbing holds - all being sorted as we speak. If we have time, we might even do some work on the house.

SWEET! Canadian Gathering at your place!

Also, watching the latest episode of Naked and Afraid. Looks like the M18 is doing it's darndest to keep that poor guy alive.

Three pounds of knife, four pounds of eyelets. Bet it balances well. Bet it whistles when you use it as a paddle too.

I agree. They do look nice contoured to the knife but once you attach kit bags etc it gets covered up anyway. Can't wait to see all the gear you get strapped to it. A kydex shovel tip would be interesting. Those clips and orange cord look familiar...you got ur neck lanyard on it don't you? Don't lie, we know you tried it!

Thanks tw.

That's good insurance. When I get a $1600 root canal, it's like $1800 because they always find something else they need to do. Stupid teeth. I'd get rid of them but I kind of have this thing about eating. Plus I hear dentures are worse.

I hear that. I have 2 dental insurances. My wife had me for dental, and a new company recently took over the company I work for, and provide insurance.

Play practice went well, except we're missing an actor that we really need to even do the play since the former one dropped out. This time we had a bit of a mock up of the stage setting to work with. I have a really cool, funny part IMO. Glad I decided to take it.

I keep trying to convince my dad that we should have a Beckerhead gathering on our mountain. We've got a cabin, firepit, plenty of trees to chop, and I think most of y'all would really like it up there (only problem is that it's really only accessable via ATV), and if it ran out of space I'm sure there are some suitable trees to hang hammocks from, and probably some decent small tent places too. Just gotta convince dad to do it. :D

much props for keeping that army of eyelits in a straight line! looks like you have room for a few more.

Congrats! Sounds like a great opportunity to do a full write-up on building a climbing "gym".

I may get another (TrailHawk) for myself one of these days.

I recommend everyone to have at least one. They're mighty handy to have around the house/garden, and they're light enough to carry all day when hiking/camping etc. I like the Rifleman too, but it's a lot heavier.

4) CPM154 when properly done is my favorite knife steel. It kills S30V.

That's bold talk in a Becker thread  CPM-154 is far from the "latest and greatest" anymore, but it's still dang good stuff, and a lot tougher than people usually give it credit for. The ones you and Kay have from me are "only" 58Rc... one of these days I'd like to run some at 60/62 and see how much they differ. The next batch will be S35VN at 60Rc... so many alloys, so little time... ;)

:D

I keep trying to convince my dad that we should have a Beckerhead gathering on our mountain.

Maybe start small with a few local friends? I can't host much of a Gathering at our house... pretty much all the available ground is covered with garden beds and miscellaneous other stuff.

I have yet to own any cold steel hawks, or the shovel, or the CRKT hawks... So many sharp wants...

I left my trial hawk out in the rain for two weeks. I have some work to do on it...

I thought i could come up with something funny to say about using trial instead of trail... but then my mind drew a blank.
