This may be sacrilege in some circles, but if I had to start over I'd get another CS shovel before any hawk.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is ready to order! See this thread for details:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/bladeforums-2024-traditional-knife.2003187/

Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/ - Order as many as you like, we have plenty.
Maybe start small with a few local friends? I can't host much of a Gathering at our house... pretty much all the available ground is covered with garden beds and miscellaneous other stuff.
If you want to clean the Traiial Hawk I can send it your way. I don't use it much anyways. Don't know where the handle is though.I have yet to own any cold steel hawks, or the shovel, or the CRKT hawks... So many sharp wants...
I thought i could come up with something funny to say about using trial instead of trail... but then my mind drew a blank.
Depending on where in Virginia you are, I'm anywhere from 10 minutes to 6 hours away from you.By local do you mean Beckerheads from "near" (in quotation marks because I think the closest is Derek at about 2.3 hours away) here? Or?
We could host a pretty nice one I think, only problem would be getting people and food and the like up the mountain (since only atv's can make it up and it's pretty steep), and getting someone out in case of an emergency (nearest hospital is around 40 minutes away from the house, plus you would have to allow around 10 minutes to get them off the mountain). Other than that, it's a pretty nice place. We could probably fit about 8 people in the cabin if there was someone in every sleeping spot, plus tents and stuff outside. It's got a big fire pit, enough small trees to chop on for years, and there are quite a few trails around people could walk if they wanted. Another issue would be grumpy grandpa, and extremely active 83 year old who doesn't like visitors.![]()
I'll keep working on dad, maybe I'll convince him that a gathering on the mountain would be fun.![]()
Impressive for an 11 year old. Also, I just want to say that today is really special for me, because it's the birthday of my constant companion for 11 years, Spark. (Nicknamed "Nobs")

NoVA. Looks like 3 hours and a few minutes.Highland County, you?
I suppose it is pretty impressive, but he sneaks out during the night and does all that stuff, so I never get to see. :grumpy:![]()
Thanks brother, hell i dont mind cleaning it if your giving it away HAHA, actually that will give me one more use out of this acid i got sitting here. Was about to toss it out since im done "making" stuff until after the move. But I can clean the head all up and then etch it in ferric chloride. Make a cool little project. Thanks bud.

Still pretty far, but not too bad. If you're anywhere near Fredericksburg, know any good knife stores there? I'm gonna be there this weekend and I was looking to see if there were any good knife stores near there.

My bro picked up one of these:

It ain't too shabby for chopping and fine work. He hasn't let me try throwing it yet...
And I definitely agree with you... so many sharp wants!
The BK9's new pants look great. Damn, that's a lot of eyelets.... BTW, Your stock sheath was much appreciated!I took that general "running with scissors" concept to a whole new level.
Looks like a competitor for world's largest necker sheath.![]()
Dang, I like it. I've been thinking for a while now it would be nice to see some sheaths that were squared off at the tip end to make mounting stuff to the sheath easier, and the more eyelets the better.
BTW I have two full pieces of foam (8x24" I think) for pressing kydex and some black .08 kydex, might be a full sheet. I've given up on making sheaths myself so you can have it.
Three pounds of knife, four pounds of eyelets. Bet it balances well. Bet it whistles when you use it as a paddle too.
I agree. They do look nice contoured to the knife but once you attach kit bags etc it gets covered up anyway. Can't wait to see all the gear you get strapped to it. A kydex shovel tip would be interesting. Those clips and orange cord look familiar...you got ur neck lanyard on it don't you? Don't lie, we know you tried it!
much props for keeping that army of eyelits in a straight line! looks like you have room for a few more.![]()
This is the focus that the seriously AR bring to the craft.....
....and the sheath looks killer, D-rock.
