One in the back for dancing?

So I bought a six of Left Hand 'Good JuJu' and a four of Finch's Pale Ale tallboys.
They're both ok - the Good JuJu is a straight-up basic ale with a genuine ginger note instead of any hops at all. A ginger-ale, if you will. The Finch's is really an IPA in Pale Ale clothing, and a bit bitter for my taste. Not in love with either.

Well, I had an idea and committed beer heresy: mixed 'em 1:1 and now they're awesome! It's a real Ginger Pale Ale, very nicely balanced. I'm going to drink the remainder this way. Actually it's best with a smidge more of the JuJu to let the ginger out.

And in case any of y'all think I'm OVER INDULGING by having TWO WHOLE BEERS to myself, consider this in my defence: I spent about 11 hours driving into, inside, and out of New York City today. In a pickup. Worst traffic I've dealt with on those roads in a decade. (normally I live 2.75hrs away)

Wel Daiz, if it's any consolation, a lot of us have always thought of you as a heretic anyway, so your heresy is to be expected. Drive on.

Doc

Mixing beer is what makes a black and tan. Mixing beer and other liquids makes a snakebite, black velvet, and even a shandy.

That's what convinced me... I ran through every mixed beer drink that would come to mind and then took the plunge.

Doc, re: heretic
 :D

also, Go Mr. Siegle!

By all the replies to this, one might think this forum wasnt about fishing?? :p J/K

What reels do you guys like, and for what type of fishing?

Don't know much about fishing. Only word in that quote I understood was Shimano, but that's because they make derailleurs as well.

Finished a cup of coffee with a bowl of G. L. Pease Barbary Coast. Life is good.

Now I have to track down some more climbing holds for our new climbing training facility. Already spent $2,000 on holds. Will likely spend a few thousand more. Exciting times.

Wally world disposable rods for the amount I get to fish!

As far as the rod is concerned im happy, most the time, with an Ugly Stik.... And you can indeed get those at (some) wally worlds.

HAHA, thats funny... I have NO clue what a derailleurs is :D

Bicycle shifter mechanisms. Shimano is also huge in the cycling industry.

Sound like a good morning!

Got home from work last night and got this huge spell of nausea. Started tossing cookies and other nasty stuff. Woke up this morning not feeling 100% so I took today off stick. Still not really up to eating, but water no longer feels too bad on the stomach.

WW, what kind of fishing are you most likely to be doing? If fresh water, the Stradic CI4 is a great fresh water spinning reel, light with a good drag. Please don't take offense but if you are really going to pair the reel with an Ugly Stik I'd consider it a waste of money to jump up to a CI4. A Shimano Symetre will get it done for you for about a hundred less. PM me if you want other suggestions. I mostly bass fish and use casting reels (shimano, daiwa and abu Garcia) but I've also had to outfit myself and family for Canadian fishing trips so I've acquired and used about a dozen different spinning reels over the years.

For spinning reels I like Penn the best out of what I've tried. The drag is amazing and the bearings/gears are super smooth. That Shimano I'm sure would be a good one too but that's alot of $(for me anyways:rolleyes:) to drop on a reel. Penn Conflict is $80 and Battle is around $60. I couldn't be happier with both. I own a bunch of older Shimano's had since a kid but haven't tried any of their newer expensive stuff out yet. I think I would rather get a Daiwa Ballistic or Procyon. Daiwa makes awesome rods BTW. Even their cheap ones are excellent. I use spinning for jig/troll/bobber of any species around here.

Yikes, that doesn't sound good. Hope things improve for the weekend.

Things should improve. My daughter had this last week, she was fine in about 24 hours (kids do get over stuff faster then us tho). My youngest boy and wife had it on Wednesday :thumbdn:. I blame them all for getting me sick!

This is the snark thread brother, i dont take offense to much of anything here :D

Mostly fishing for cats freshwater, but will also be doing quite a bit of fishing salt water off the coast. Id like a setup to cover these 2 basis, figured 4000 would work pretty good. Also do a LOT of kayak brim/panfish fishing... But ill use another, smaller, rig for that to enjoy the fight more.

Why would you consider it a waste with the ugly stick? Granted i know they arent the best rods... But for the price they seem pretty damn good IMO. Durable working rods. Like the Beckers of the fishing rod world LOL. Have used several over the years without any complaints... But i have also never spent 200 on a reel before either so... Maybe your saying its a waste to match the quality of the reel to the quality of the rod?

Ill look into the Symetre vs CI4 differences as well, thanks bud!!

James, another question. :o

Would it be cheating to carry my Swiss Army Knife just for the tools? I use the can opener or awl to strike firesteels, and I use the screw drivers a lot.
