Bring 'em to the next Gathering; I'll be happy to give one a thorough workout consisting of, "Can a 6'3" drunk fat dude wearing a goofy bear hat snooze comfortably in it next to a campfire while wearing pink crocs?"

If it fails that kinda serious real-world testing...

There.... Fixed that for ya, you croc hater!!!

Doc

I love this part "I kill camp chairs on a regular basis" HAHA

I have a pair of crocs that are about 5 years old. They're great. Easy to slip on and off and damn comfy. I mostly wear them in the winter with wool socks and they don't see a whole lot of the city . Mostly around the house and quick trips to the corner store or dollar general, occasionally a gathering at a friends place etc. I highly recommend them for kickin around.

Thanks. Does it catch better with a bit of Vaseline or wax on it?

Alrighty, I'll start collecting. lol

Thanks.

Hah, I have 4 large tide pods containers full and have yet to even attempt a fire with it. Good to have around tho I guess

How about this bird! He and his brother live with my chickens, they are really funny birds. Follow you like a puppy then when you turn around they look off in the distance like "what? I'm not following you, I was just...uh...going this way" then turn and walk the other way. If your sitting on the ground tho, they'll just about get in ur lap. Big babies

Did a little more sanding on the hawk. Acetone alone is having a tough time removing the coating, and there is lots of dimples... So im thinking ill have to sand it all flat to get the coating out the dimples since acetone is not cutting it, literally. Ill get 'er done though one way or the other!!

Ill go drink me a Yuengling or 2, maybe take a couple shots of whiskey, and quite possibly have a nice smoke too. When i get back i hope there is more snarkage to read. Otherwise you all fail.

:D

don'tfaildon'tfaildon'tfail......

WW: wire brush. I have a SS one from the 'Pot that is good for removing stuff like that. Or spend an hour or three to get it flat. Tho time does fly with Yuengling's and combustibles....I'd still go for the wire brush.

It doesn't catch better, but it burns longer. It would be hard for it to catch easier. It's just about on fire as it is. The Vaseline/wax serves as an easy fuel source, think of a candle with the lint will serve like a wick.

Mostly get a handful and get out and play with it.

Nice turkey Dres.

Unless you can power-sand it, I'd not worry to much about that hawk head as long as the rust is off. They are cast, and that leaves a rough surface.

I did some cryo, tempering, and straightening today. Not fancy, but happy to be done and move toward finish work. Ordered handle materials to fit the plan, and made a mostly conscious decision not to glue any more patterns to blank steel until a bunch of stuff is OUT THE DOOR. That means at least 5 already heat-treated blades and 3 ready-for-heat 'dashi. Let's see how long that resolution lasts.... and you gave give me grief if it doesn't.

So tonight I'm sitting in the backyard, drinking a beer (Vanilla Porter) and a fire in the firepit, and listening to Blueprint for Armageddon

Thanks Dunkem! Thats was our squad motto at one point when i was in the Army.

Im done with the hawk for a few hours, maybe the night... I did get most the coating off, i will try a wire brush.... And maybe Jasco... I have never had issues stripping beckers with acetone, but all the dimples in this may take something a little tougher?

Im not trying to make it the most beautiful thing ever... But i want to acid etch it and maybe stonewash it... Hell when done the few spots of coating may not be noticeable anyways.

Im enjoying a nice big stout now... One of them big gruesome :D Likely to be my last one EVER... So im savoring every sip!! Me and the wife bout to watch a movie... Be back once she passes out HAHA.

WW, acetone is really bad for you. I used to use it a lot for cleaning rubber off of belt driven clutches and it worked great, but since I read about it I won't use it again.

I believe I've made the decision to seek new employment. It has impacted my health and my sanity. My hours are always different and it really messes up my sleep schedule. I end up splitting up my sleep 4 days a week which just keeps me tired and I've put on a good 80lbs in the 8 years I've done this job, because I just sit on my butt all day. I'm doing a better since I have been using a cpap machine, but I still need to make a lot more changes.

I'm actually listening to that exact same thing. I'm on part 4. You are talking about Hardcore History right, and not some obscure long dead rock band? :D

ac - sometimes change is good, even though it is "hard" to make those needed changes. The first step, deciding to leave, is the most difficult, in my books.

I've been putting it off for a while now, but it's definitely time. The hours aren't the only thing getting to me. Little things with the boss add up too. He's a good guy, but he doesnt seem to care much his business anymore. I could be wrong, but I think the ship is starting to take on more and more water. I'd like to be on one that isn't gonna start sinking.

There aren't a ton of options in a town of 6,000, so I'll have to be patient, but I'll find something. I've got a few places I'm going to check with soon though.

Is there something we should know?

I have used acetone for many things for many years... I dont sniff it or anything but i have read over the msds sheet on it and i didnt see the big deal.. I mean compared to the other paint strippers anyways. Obviously it dries the skin, and you shouldnt breath it... But According to it's MSDS data acetone "May be absorbed through the skin. Repeated or prolonged exposure may cause drying and cracking of the skin. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis." The testing for the prolonged exposure was 6 hr everyday for 6 days from what i read... I have never had any issues with it.... But if there is something i dont know please inform me.... I may not take it too serious until tomorrow though... Dont wanna ruin my buzz HAHA

Also, Good luck on the job change brother!!

Naw I'll be good. Just that the weight gain and inactivity has raised my blood pressure and whatnot. A job change to something more active and some lifestyle changes should help that considerably. Misti and I are researching some diets and I'm going to start getting some good long walks in again. Last fall I was down 10lbs in a month after I cut out soda and started walking for 30 or 45 mins a day.

I've actually been doing a lot more lately than I have in a while and it feels good. I haven't fished so much in years. It will be nice to be able to do things with friends again after I find a different job and get back to normal people hours.

As far as acetone goes, it must have been something else I read about, or what I had read was a bunch of bs. I can't find anything too horrible about it now. Use away! Lol.
