Good luck.
A buddy of mine's boy brought home his second infection - symptoms started the same day as graduation and got bad enough he got tested after the play he was in Saturday - which means the entire cast was exposed. :(

ugh!

About 10-12 years ago a buddy decided to store all his forging stuff in my barn.
For the past 2-3 years I've been using hos 290# anvil with his permission.
A month ago he asked what of the gear i was using and if i had ever repaired the blower on his farriers forge.
I told him i hadn't touched either forge, but the anvil was getting a lot of use.
He decided he wanted all of it back so it could be stored closer to home - and sent someone else to pick it all up.

This left me without a large anvil shaped object until now.

Found this piece of O6 bar stock Friday.
It's only 8" tall, but 12" in diameter. It also has sharply squared edges.
Weighs around 265-270#, cost less than $200.

WOW.

Square up a few inches on one side and you'll have all kinds of edge-shaping options.
Any idea what hardness it is? Because geezus, hardening that would be a trick.
Though O1 will air-harden in thin sections. If you could get the surface hot enough, I bet the mass below would suck out the heat fast enough the top mm or so.

part of my plan is to weld some square and round tubing to one side for hardys and pritchels.
Or I may just get a pecto plate and call it good that way.
haven't decided if I want to heat and quench the face or just work harden it. (leaning towards work hardening)

Well, finally got the 'rona. Fortunately after classes and grading are done, and now I get out of graduation.
If recovery proceeds on current trajectory, it will only be a 48hr deal, but who knows.

I had a real mild case bout a year and a half ago ... my taste and smell are still messed up big time. I hope you feel better soon with no lingering affects!

Wrap an inductive coil around the top inch, get 'er up to temp and just shut it off. I bet it will harden enough for anvil! :D

I found a 20# bag of Royal Oak charcoal pellets for the Trager. Tractor Supply had it.
I’m going to give it a try. Going for that traditional charcoal flavor. I might blend it with some hickory at a later point.
The sales pitch states a higher temp. If that is true I could sure use it on those 20/30 degree days during the winter grilling season.

Rosebud until cherry

I got covid the last day of Octber 2020, and I still can't taste and smell everything.

Haha! It's one of the reasons we went with the Bronco – you can get it in a manual!

Would have been happy to get another Toyota FJ Cruiser, but they stopped making them in 2014. We found a 2014 FJ with 98 000 km, but they wanted $50 000. Just could not justify it at that price.

Vehicle pricing is insane. I have been holding off buying one until the cost comes down. The question is...will that ever happen?

In the meantime I have been throwing parts at the ones I have to keep them going. Even parts are expensive (if you can find them), and the quality of them are very poor, even some OEM stuff.

Getting close to just raising horses again lol.

We bought a vehicle in November took me a month and a half to find something that fit our wants and needs. And I went about a grand over what I was hoping to spend. So far we are happy with our purchase. We bought a 2016 GMC Terrain easier for us to get in and out of, acceptable gas mileage, does good in snow if you can drive . Able to pull our small trailer, American/union made . Probably the most "Decked out" vehicle we have ever had
