Got my bike trailer in Friday. Assembled, and took it for it's maiden voyage yesterday. Love it. It has a 130lb weight limit if you use it as a hand cart. (If you look above the luggage rack, you can see the handle.) Has an 88lb limit used as a bicycle trailer..Hope to do a camping trip in the near future.

But the big question is, how many BK9s can you tow in it?

I don't bounce like I used to. I was coming around the back of the house and tripped over the sump pump hose. I have went to the bank, changed the oil on my old Craftsman garden tractor. Mowed change my two wheel tractor from tiller to mower . And redid the solar generator set up. Got rid of an old refrigerator and non running riding mower, combined with hitting the ground I am about done

Gave the non running riding mower to a guy down the street. we pulled it with my 1991 craftsman GT6000 . He was concerned about pulling it with a garden tractor so he was going to walk and steer it . I told him to get on and steer . I dropped my machine in third and took off :) couldn't tell I was pulling it

Gonna push up and over the top of the century mark this weekend, with a slight chance of rain. Welcome to the jungle!

My automobiles are "old" and failing.

Any opinions on the current crop of modestly sized CUV's under $30k? I need AWD or 4WD, but for ON-road, not off. I'm a jeep hater (because experience, had 3).

Subaru is good.

I like the look of the new Crosstreks a lot, and in fact there are a lot of Suburus in my family. But some (in my family) complain of the seats. I'd like to drive a more recent example (than my cousin's, which I've tried) and see how that feels. Definitely on the menu. But if I go from a Colorado and an RX300 to a single vehicle, I might need a little more room than the Crosstrek. (Forester remains so ugly, but very practical...)

We've got a '15 Outback. Mostly a good one. Has the odd habit of killing a battery every 25 months and the display screen is junk. The seats are a little small for me, but I'm big. They are mostly comfortable though. And I definitely like the gas mileage better than in my F-150.

My daughter has an AWD Honda CRV. I like it so much I'm perusing ads looking for a second gen to use as a gas saving kick-around car.

It is incredibly roomy inside, and actually fun to drive.

The Outbacks make so much sense, but I can't bring myself to consider an actual station wagon without having kids. Lame, but true. My mom drove one of the early white Suburu station wagons (I think "outback" was just a trim package at the time?) that had been used by the US Ski Team during that era (1990-something?) and then sold off.

CRV actually fun to drive, eh? Hmmm. I wouldn't mind a Honda in the least... my last Honda was a 1972 CB350 (VERY used).

The smaller Honda is intriguing, tho I don't want a Hybrid (one power plant, please, will go Fuel Cell someday), and I just discovered the Corolla Cross last night. My other parents drive a Mazda CX-5, but I don't think that one's for me.

This morning I mentally counted 9 Suburus in my family history.

Diagnosis is in: truck has terminal frame cancer at the modest age of 14. Gonna bring it home and bury it in the backyard like the last hillbillies that lived here.

Hopefully the 20yo vehicle stays on the road a bit longer.

gotta love salt and humidity.
this is why I never wash the undercarriage on my truck - the protective layer of mud that I tell myself keeps the salt away from the metal bits.

I can't get away from salt corrosion either.

I have been watching the F150 trucks over the years to see how the aluminum beds are holding up. Always thought it would be sorta neat if the rest of the body was made like that too.

Newer trucks come with waxed frames and carpeted wheel wells.

Not many options out there for a basic dyed in the wool pickup. Heck, vinyl floors are now an option, as well as a manual trans.

I'd love to be able to order a new truck with one of these. NP205 transfer case, with a space for a PTO. This thing has been bulletproof for me in my 79 Ford. All gear driven and insanely tough.

My 2008 Colorado (the doomed one) is a manual. But I might go automatic if I only have 1 car. Having one handy helped me rehab my left (clutch) knee, and if the GF and I consolidate, it would be silly if she couldn't drive both cars. On the other hand, I guess I can teach her to drive manual on the 2008 right now, as long as we never leave the little dead-end street...
