It wasn't even a real name but a BFC user name that was posted in the thread. It's still there and now there is this thread all because "hhmoore" was posted by the OP after hhmoore posted in thread. Bizarre.....

That much positive feed back, and then this?

I am not going to lie, I have used strategy and subtlety to "Shark" purchases in the exchange.

When I am interested in a knife, I often use email, or back when j had a paid account, I would PM. Showing interest in a knife where other potential buyers can see will often trigger an I'll take it. When I am trying to clarify an issue on a knife I want, I don't want to tip off my competition!

I will also admit, I have used reading comprehension to my advantage and sharked knifes from those who could not read the instructions (email only, first to email, first to pm etc).

I don't known hhmore''s reason for not wanting to be identified as the buyer. (I have a few ideas, but don't know if I am correct), but the sales thread is not his, and he does not control it.

His actions were ill conceived, and have hurt his reputation here.

People act as though all members sit and hit refresh on every thread, and watch their inbox for bladeforums messages at all times. We don't. (Though I've been known to do so from time to time when I was selling or buying).

LOL... Now he has his very own thread. Pretty strange to say the least.

I honestly don't have any major issues with the odd requirements, but if you have requirements beyond the norm it's incumbent on YOU to make sure that's understood. To take such extreme action because the seller violated a seemingly arbitrary, personal rule that he could not have known about is pretty low.

I just felt compelled to add my last comment to this thread:

This hasn't been a very enjoyable thread for me to follow. Seeing a member (hhmoore), who IMO has always acted seemingly rational (as far as I've witnessed anyway), behave in this manner, has been a huge disappointment to witness.

Who knows- maybe he has something really serious going on in his life right now? Maybe he's Type A OCD, & just has to have everything just perfect- I have no idea what his deal is. What I do know is this: sleep deprivation, & long periods of it, can severely affect one's mood's. I'm in no way trying to defend the drastic actions taken by hhmoore- just thinking outside the box.

We all interact here on BF (most of us on a daily basis)- so we usually get a pretty good feel, with whom we choose to do business with, & interact with. This just seems so atypical of the hhmoore I've seen around the past couple of years.

What I really hope to see, is hhmoore get a good nights sleep, come on here & offer his sincerest apologies for what he did to the OP. That would be a great first start.

While I appreciate the backing from everyone, I really dont want this to turn in to people trolling and harassing hhmoore, especially not outside of the thread.

The buyer just reached out to me via email and told me he has sent communication to Paypal informing them that I didn't do anything wrong and that he doesn't want this to affect my account.

No one is perfect. If Paypal wipes this frim my record I'm satisfied.

I don't know about the behind the scenes actual forum functions but the mods have put big banners on peoples avatar under their name saying not to deal with this person and to read the current thread on them in the GB&U. I'd like to see more of that!

I agree, I also think hhmoore should have this done that was one of the sneakiest things I've seen done here for awhile. Hes got to worry his rep here the op has to deal with pp and figure this out. Hhmoore you should really be ashamed on how you handled this situation.

And my personal veiw of why he didn't want his name mentioned is a plan to sell the knife later for a profit and did t want a search for said knife showing up with his name and the price he bough it for just my 2 cents

I'd really hate to make a mistake, a outrages crime, and list in a for sale thread that is mine "sold to ..........."

If there is anyone else that doesn't like there BF name listed in a for sale thread, please stand up, so I can put you on my ignore list now.

Well that would be his prerogative. If the originally seller was selling low enough and he had the money, no big deal. People do it all the time. Not something to hold against someone. Granted lots of folks don't like it but it's what capitalist economy is based off of.

1. guy is probably hiding property from an ex spouse
2. I'm going to post in every one of his threads now! :D

I just realized I sold something to hhmoore nearly a year ago. I have updated my sales thread to indicate that I sold the knife to him: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1260599-SOLD-Spyderco-Sage-2

Personally, I don't see the merit in such childish vindictiveness.

To err is human, to forgive divine.

You Sir are a gentleman. I would do business with you anytime.:)

Two most excellent posts on this unfortunate situation.
I wish all of us could be this helpful instead of joiniing in the dogpile.
I understand condemning negative behavior, as long as we don't go for the jugular.
I am closing this now and Skrapmetal can reopen it to finalze the story.
