Non smokers who carry lighters

Doc i have the exact same Austrian lighter got it on me right now didnt use it much seemed to run out of fluid way to quick . Then i read a thread on useing a ranger band on a zippo here and got a idea if you take a rubber band a small one and wrap it around the fill tube that slides out to fill the lighter it will seal it from evaporation. Use it all the time now and only have to fill it abought every two weeks .

I very rarely smoke, but carry a small Bic on me at all times. I developed the habit working on the farm and doing maintenance at a state park and a golf course. All kinds of uses for a lighter.

I don't EDC but have Bics stashed everywhere; in my glove-box, each of my packs, fishing bag, and I believe there is one here in my desk drawer. When camping I normally keep a Mini-Bic in my pocket. Never smoked - it would have taken funds from my beer money!

I have a Split Pea Lighter from Countycomm on my keychain. For those unfamiliar with them, they are like a mini Zippo inside a waterproof stainless capsule. Unlike a Zippo, they don't lose their fule to evaporation.

Non-smoker here, but I carry a couple of bic's in my B.O.B and my day pack.
Was thinking of getting a zippo, but haven't yet.

Since I have not smoked for about 15 years, I usually only carry in the summer when I am out and about in the bush. A Bic in my pocket and a spare one double wrapped with electric tape to keep it dry, then taped again to the side of my knife sheathe. Those ones I check every spring and retape to again to the knife sheathe if working satisfactorily. I keep a lighter taped that way on any knife that I would be likely to using, so at anytime in my truck and gear there are at least 6 or 7 lighters ready to go. In the winter I hang around to keep the home fire going, and keep a few handy. Tom.

How many people are sick of being asking why they carry a lighter when they don't smoke? I know I am...

OOH! OOH! ME! ME! I get that all the time.

Not to derail the thread, but I always check my bic's fuel level by putting my little Inova flashlight directly behind it. This works on most colors (although I haven't tried it with a black lighter). This way, I can discard the lighter before it's empty and avoid a nasty surprise!

Hi Everyone,

Any Non-smokers who carry lighters at all times for survival and edc reasons?

What lighter do you have on you?

I've never been a smoker, but I like lighters. While I have tools for making fire the hard way, I'd much rather use a lighter. I have at least one disposable lighter in each of my packs, most jacket pockets, and in my truck.

I just like the way Zippo's look, so I've had them for years. They may not be the best in wind, but they're sturdy, easy to refill, and I just like to have one on me.

Here's one I've had for almost 20 years. Had to buy a 2-pack of cigarettes (which I gave away) to get it:

This is the one I've carried for the last couple of years:

Since camo doesn't work too well when you drop it, I wanted something a bit more visible. Here's what I got for Christmas (definitely my favorite Zippo!):

Always carry a Zippo, even it's been 15 years since my last cigarette. Have a couple of Bics stashed away around the car also.

How well do those split peas work? They look pretty cool, but I've never handled one before.

I've been thinking about getting a few of these to use as first-to-find prizes in new geocaches. I know I'd like to get one, anyway!

Im 18, never smoked, never wanted to...but just like Ive always had a pocket knife I've always had a lighter. My grandmother use to smoke and just now has quite and I always use to still her lighters. I switch between a regular bic, red or yellow. and a brass armor zippo i got for my birthday. I usually carry the zippo but will bring a bic if I know I might lose it at like a concert. My friends smoke and they usually have to bum my lighter. People always ask why I carry a lighter if I dont smoke. I just say because other people do. Funny story I was at a survival class weekend thing with my cousin. there wasnt but about 7 poeple there and the instructor was going over fire and the different methods, when we got to bow and drill we all had to make our own and start a fire. He said the first with fire wins some small little prize. so i pulled out my bic and lit up the bundle. Needles to say he wasnt amused.

former smoker.

i have a bic in every single jacket i own and usually leave on next to my car keys so i can toss it in my pocket without forgetting.

for my hiking packs and psk's i prefer tossing orange or yellow bics in just for visibility.

a Bic with a lanyard and taped to a machete has gotta be the ultimate Hand Out Survival Kit.

I never really smoked, but I smoke cigars, but not really ofter (mostly because of the cold).

I usually have a Ronson in my schoolbag.

Once again, I want to say these are great, cheap and reliable butane lighters. I used to carry a zippo, but the fuel tends to dry out. My slim havn't seen use in years.
