Non smokers who carry lighters

I quit a little over a year ago and can almost breathe again :D, but I keep a lighter on me at all times.Usually a Bic or Zippo in my backpack and a few scattered about in the truck. They are infinitely handy.

I carry a Bic with road bicycle tire tube ranger bands on it-they fit perfectly. I use it most often when I cut nylon cord and webbing.

i quit smoking new years eve, but carry a bic on me at least, and have lighters/matches stashed in every bag and car. creature of habit I reckon.

Zippo's my primary. I fill it every sunday night, and keep a few extra flints in the cotton.

Mini-Bic keychain is the backup. Here's a how-too on making them

I got a peanut lighter from countycomm.com and its a nice little lighter.

I filled it up with fluid in July and it still has fluid in it and still working great.

Yup. Been carrying one for a while. I have a zippo that I always in my "watch pocket" and I carry a fluid refill container on my keychain.

The irony is that it gets the most EDC use from lighting other peoples cigarets.

Tobacco free for 3 years now, never much of a smoker but loved/love Copenhagen.

White full size bic always in my left front pocket, I like white so I can see how much fluid is left. Chris

I have a traditional Zippo with a butane insert I carry in a pocket , there is a Bic backup in my kit.

I just bought a new Zippo to carry, carried one when I was 11, because my grandfather smoked and taught me better to be prepared. Have a small bic in the tool box. Been looking to buy one of those strike lighter things at my local gun show.

I carry a little pocket torch everyday, and I add a Zippo in the winter months. I am not a smoker. I bought my first Zippo when I was 12 for burning the trash. I realize how inefficient they are, but I still have a fondness for the click and the smell of Zippo's fluid. I am also typically carrying a ferro rod or two in my bag.

I smoke :( and Won't carry a Bic. I buy the cheap gas station no-name lighters because they are adjustable and certain ones are like flame throwers on high. The Bic lighter is not what it once was due to the safety features.

In the book "98.6 Degrees: The Art of keeping you A** ALIVE", he states the same thing about lighters on page 159 in the last paragraph. The entire part about lighters is a good read.

Very easy to defeat, grab the metal ring over the spark wheel with a pair of needle nosed pliars and pull it off. It does bend a couple of little tabs of metal up when it comes off but they are super easy to bend back. Chris

I always carry a yellow Bic and don't smoke. I check it quite often since pocket lint seems to work its way into the opening.

+1 I buy the bic mini 3 or 4 packs and once I get home they get the metal things ripped off and distributed across the house, bags, and one to my dresser for when the one in my pocket dies. Never smoked, just always carried one, always needed one in the military.

I wish Bics were transparent so I can keep track of the fluid level easily. I stash bics all over the place, but I also have at least one cheap transparent lighter in my kits. For me, even though they aren't as "quality" as bics, they eliminate the guesswork.

I've read (unverified info) that Bic won't use transparent casings because the plastic is thicker and they wouldn't be able to fit as much fuel into the lighter. I'm surprised with all the material engineering going on no one has found a suitable thin and clear plastic for use in lighters yet.

But your still left with a small flame without the ability to adjust the flame. The metal safety ring is not what adjusts the flame. After you remove the cover, the wheel and bearing, the spring and flint, your at the rocker arm which has two raised tabs. Even clipping off the tabs does not increase the flame. You can't adjust the flame due to the lawsuit-proof design.

Never smoked a single cigarette, but I usually have minibic in my pocket, few more in my edc bag and a zippo (usuallu unfilled) with fuel in the same bag plus matches AND firesteel. :D
