I purchased a knife 3 June 2008 from Norfleet from this thread:http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5667513#post5667513

He posted that six knives were available for sale and I purchased the last one of the six knives on 3 June. I paid by Paypal that day. I received an email from him shortly after asking me what type of sheath I wanted and that he would make the sheath and send both the knife and sheath when the sheath was completed . I did not hear from him after two weeks so I emailed him asking about the status of the sheath and knife. He replied with an email stating that he was waiting for the dye on the sheath to dry and the knife would ship in a couple of days. Since then it's been one stall after another. He has given me promises the knife will ship by certain dates or within a 2-3 days of my inquiries many times and each time, no knife. I have asked for a refund multiple times with no initial response then promises to refund my money but no action. He had some health problems and other issues that most of us patiently waited through and supported him through, but in light of his recent activity on the sale forum, I question a bit now.

Recently he started posting new knife sale threads which was the final straw for me. I again asked for my money back for this supposed completed blade that I paid for almost 5 months ago. He responded by sending a paypal e-check which DID NOT CLEAR. I received notification from paypal that the funds did not go through. I've tried to reach him by email since this latest twist and he has not replied to my email.

I would caution those who are considering buying from him to please read the thread above. It gives an idea of what you may have to deal with. He did finally send some knives out to some of the buyers but he has not sent mine.

He has been deceitful and lied to me and broken dozens of promises to deliver this knife.

I had been following the other thread.... sorry to hear this........
I had hopes that everything was going to squared away as best as possible.
You have been a very patient man "ksjumpmd", it seems to me.

+1 on that. Beyond patient in my book. I am also sorry to hear of your problem with Norfleet. I recon he will most likely have to answer here for this sooner or later to you. I very much hope for you sake its sooner!

Has anyone contacted the appropriate moderator regarding this issue? I almost fell for this scam. It looks like a very nice knife.

The sad thing is he makes a really beautiful knife. It took months to get mine, although it was advertised as complete and ready to ship. It has just been in my safe as I just have a bad mojo concerning the knife.

I read that thread. His health issues are not the main issue. He advertised the knives as being completed but they weren't. He isn't honest.
Reminds me of Newt Livesay around the year 2000. Lots of excuses, shipped some knives after long delays, some people never got their orders or their money back.

I appears he is not a thief but a maker who has zero respect for his customers, just respects their money. These knifes have been all made and ready to ship too many times to count. When a maker lies repeatedly it is not because he is bad on the "business" side, it is because he only cares that he have your money your money.

Is this a case of a maker who needs to generate cash to live and does so in this type of manner? I forgot, what is that called................................?

I was one of the lucky ones---I actually got my "finished" knife 5 or so months after I paid for it

Looking back at how that transaction went, there is no way I could ever recommend anyone to do business with Mr. Norfleet. He simply doesn't do what he says he will. Every time he misses a promised ship date, you have to contact him to find out what the problem is. He doesn't maintain communication with you after he gets your money. Why should he?

Even then, it's always a lame excuse like "I had to go to the doctor for a scan." How exactly does going to the doctor make someone miss yet another deadline by 2 weeks?

There are a whole bunch of these type of excuses he used on me and others. Read the thread linked in post #1 to see more than a few. I mention over 1/2 of the ones he used on me personally in it.

What's even funnier is that he sometimes gives excuses to people that he already used on others (like me) months before. The excuse he gave to Cablemonkey on 9-7-08 (as stated in post #71 in the linked thread) was already used on me back in June/July.

The really crappy part is that even after getting the knife, it feels "tainted" as I know what I and others went through when dealing with Mr. Norfleet.

Good luck ksjumpmd, I hope you get your knife or refund soon.

Well, I will make the motion for the "Hall of Shame" and a temporary Ban for Norfleet. Then if he gets his act back together and gets everyone their funds (or knives) back he can contact Spark.

A ban (temporary or not) might do more harm than good. Check the last few posts on the linked thread. He's unable to respond to paid customer's E-mails-- they get bounced back for some reason. This forum may be the only reliable method they have left to contact him.

Personally, what I'd like to see is that he is somehow restricted to only advertising knives that really are done + ready to ship that day. Not half a year and a dozen excuses later.

Wishful thinking but how would something like that be managed? Who would verify the knives are actually ready for sale? I understand what you were going for here but knife makers shouldn't need a babysitter.

Actually a good idea, imo.
No future business here until all past issues have been resolved.

Even after considering all extenuating circumstances, I have a hard time being sympathetic to the maker's chronic explanations (not his plight)...

Basically, a crap shoot delivery, at best, even on a completed knife order.

Ksjumpmd, you have far more class and patience than what I would have exhibited under the same circumstances.
This is a walking on eggshell issue here. Damned if you bring it up and damned if you don't.

For what it is worth, you have my respect.
:)

I'm quite sad to see this one end up here. I keep hoping that today will be the day that the knife shows up, and that's why Gil won't communicate; because he's shipped it and knows I will have it soon. But today's not that day. And at this point, I'm not sure that it's ever going to come.

I have complete sympathy for Gilbert and his families health problems. At least thats the excuse I've gotten on the few emails of mine that he has responded to (GOD, I don't know how many I've written!!). But, I've had a knife on order with him since 09/07. YES...... 07!!! So, I go out looking for info on this guy and find this forum. What do I find........He's selling knives on here that are already made !!! How about mine that's been on order for over a year BOZO??? I damn sure don't like being screwed out of 200 bucks. I wish Tennessee wasn't so far away, the man deserves a little visit.

I've been watching that thread every week and after reading this one, I don't think I could ever buy a knife from him. ksjumpmd, you have been more than patient waiting on your knife/refund and to get no response from Gil is a shame. The gentleman that ordered his 2 years ago and still hasn't received his knife, well, all I can say about that is that is inexcusable and Norfleet should give you your knife AND your money back. To bad, I really liked the look of his knives and wanted to purchase one myself but with shady business practices like this I will have to pass.

I've got no dog in this fight and probably shouldn't even be posting in this thread but as long as he's allowed to remain a 'member in good standing' here, all BFC is doing is enabling him to continue to screw people over.........some folks don't use the search function and that's a shame........on them.
