Norfleet took my money

I really came close to trying to order one of his knives. I also saw the new ones lately and though he had to have taken care of all of his past orders if he is selling new ones. It's a shame it seems his knives are well made nice knives but it's a toss up when and if you will receive your knife. I don't know if he is a scam artist or misleads people. Like he takes on more then he can handle in a timely manner then instead of being honest he tries to cover up that the knife wasn't really finished as advertised. I hope everyone gets their knives or refunds. I even remember Mr Horton offering to give Gil a hand if he ever needed one. This is just a sad thing.

I've got no dog in this fight and probably shouldn't even be posting in this thread but as long as he's allowed to remain a 'member in good standing' here, all BFC is doing is enabling him to continue to screw people over.........some folks don't use the search function and that's a shame........on them.

These are now my thoughts exactly. You beat me to the post.

Looking forward to reading his response here subsequent to Keith Montgomery's recent message to him yesterday.

All I know is that I considered buying one of the last batch of knives he offered for sale, but when I checked, there were still folks who had not received the knives that were supposedly finished and ready to be shipped several weeks before. I know that he makes excellent knives, and I am sympathetic to his situation. However, I would be more sympathetic as well as more likely to buy from him if I saw that everyone who had paid for an "already completed" knife had received one.

I wonder if we are going to see any more of Gilbert on this forum. He knows of this thread, but it doesn't appear that he wants to deal with the problems people are having with him.

There's a thread at the top of Knives for Sale by Makers right now and it seems to be happening again to someone new. Actually there's two...

its just wrong and i feel sorry for all the good people that trusted in him and paid in advance for orders they thought were complete and were not. he has taken their money. is that not theft?

Gill makes a great knife. That being said he is a poor business man. I purchased a knife at this time last year, with the intent of giving it to Dad for Christmas. Kept in close contact with Gill all along the way stating if it would not be ready to please let me know so I could make other arrangements. He did not keep his end because of "medical issues" with both him and his family, yet came up with other knives in the for sale area. He kept on telling me it was just about done, sheath needed to be made, jusyt needed to get it boxed up, etc. It showed up at my door without him telling me it had been shipped, 8 months after I had paid for it, June something. I believe that he has over extended himself both in his making ability and financially (like the rest of America). He can only complete finished knives when new orders come in to pay for shipping, steel, leather, etc. on past orders. With all of this going on here, new knife orders will cease and those completed orders will not see USPS trucks. I feel for Gill but this is not how to build an ongoing business. I am glad I gave the knife to Dad, because I could not use it and fell good about it. Hope all turns out well but I have doubts, sorry.

Due to a serious and re occurring illness, no new knife orders will be taken at this time as I must use all my strength to get well and at the same time try to get all pending knife orders finished. I get to the shop and work all that I can and the doctors just said I need time to heal and not get any more infections but I work in the shop even when told not to as my customers are the most important thing at this time to me.

I pasted the above from his website. I can understand how most of you feel. But please let's give Gilbert a chance to respond, before we start "stoning" him.
Yes - I too, have a Stake in this . But I was unaware his backlog of unfilled orders, when I placed my order earlier this month ( Oct. )
The time frame I was given for a knife was 9 to 12 weeks.
nothing compared to time you've waited or the $$$ you feel you've lost - Again I hope he will respond & make things right.

This quote doesn't hold a drop of water..

Firstly, the above quote on his website has been played out before like a worn out record for years now to good folks like you who have given them they're hard earned money, been deceived, and then felt sorry for him later after these repeated excuses, thus enabling this behavior. Further, that quote on his website is only in response to this thread here and the three other threads in the Knife Makers For Sale Forum, IMO..

Think about it sensibly if you will, he posts photo's and descriptions(often times claiming he has multiple knives) of knives he obviously does not have completed. That means he is advertising knives to new potential buyers that have actually been previously sold.

In addition, this kind of behavior may likely also have a ripple affect among other potential buyers that may be suspect of the good honest Knifemakers here that sell a fine product that is ready for shipment when it is advertised as such.

Personally, I think a debt of gratitude is owed to the original poster here for helping get out the word of the truth about Norfleet, and perhaps for the first time, actually quelling the ongoing 'enabling' for the most part.

Sorry, posted in the wrong Norfleet thread

he should be banned forever . His deceit hurts all other decent honorable makers by creating a fear in the minds of the buyers . It is a same because his knives look beautiful . I collect knives as well as make them , I would never deal with him .

Just a comment: People are hijacking his sales threads I agree with everyone but maybe keep it here in the proper forum..(oops wrong forum mentioned)

Non-paying members can't use the search function.

Caveat emptor -- let the buyer beware -- let the buyer be aware.

If they can't afford a BF membership, how can they afford a custom knife? No sympathy.

They can still search Norfleet site:Bladeforums.com on Google.
