Northwoods #79, a dream come true?

I really like that!

Regarding on which end the blade pivots - I think that, given such a difference between size on the ends, having it get smaller towards the blade end as you're holding it open would make your hand tend to move towards the blade. I'd rather have the more filling part of the frame in the front of my hand, given the choice.

The Northwoods #31 is very exciting to me, my vote is still to call it the "swell back" half whittler. How long is it going to be by the way?? I look forward to watching it's development.

'Bout this long.....

I hate to say this, but I have forgotten. We have been working on it a long time. :). Surprises are good, right?

I hide my own Easter eggs.

I might have to have one of these as my first Northwoods. Was going to pick one of their really nice Peanuts but this looks great! So Scandi grind? Not sure how that will work out with a pocket knife. Im partial to thinner surgically sharp blades but Im sure I can manage.

It will have the same Sabre grind as the others. How it works? Well, it works well because pocket knives are relatively thin blades anyway. How does it work in comparison to other pocket knives? I don't think it is quite as effective a cutter since the blade is thicker than other pocket knives and the grind is more aggressive.

The bottom line is, it works. I haven't had any problems with mine. And so far, they are beautiful, I expect the 79 to be the same.

I'm impatiently waiting for the 79 to be available. It's the only knife I'm waiting for to be released, I think. I need it in my pocket.

Saw this thread pop back up again and was hoping it was because new the 79 had come out. Hopefully soon.

We had them do a slightly different blade shape than they have ever done. I think it will rock!

This will be the last of the rustic looking Northwoods for a while. There will be more at some point, but the next few coming

through will be more "normal."

Really sorry to hear there won't be any more rustics, I love my little "Barney Rubble" knife, the so called bullet jack.

The Northwoods script is distinctive and very carefully chosen. You have a fine graphic artist working for you.
Your pic of course.

I have been in a holding pattern on new purchases waiting to see this one. The 48 with wharnie was very tempting but doesnt really offer me a big enough difference to my moose for edc. This guy on the otherhand looks very interesting and different. A saber ground wharnie is something I am interested in trying and have been patiently waiting to see this one come to life.

I love this description (and my own Bullet Jack, in white bone)! Thanks. :D

I actually think this one is the last of the Barney Rubble knives for a while...I kind of forgot this one was in the pipeline. :)

Wow, how did I miss this thread...?
This one looks great. I'm pleased to see the blade on the fat end, making it a taller blade profile (and I just plain like the looks of it).
The 79 might have to be my first Northwoods. :D

GEC has "flipped" other frames to create patterns with main blades on either the smaller or larger ends (the #57 iterations come readily to mind, as do the #25s/#26s, but I know there are others), so I hope they do so with the #79.

This upcoming Northwoods looks promising, but I'm with those who would love to see a #79 jackknife with the blade(s) pivoting at the smaller end.

Picture something like this (with a main blade proportionally larger to fill the frame):
