Northwoods Madison Barlow

Nice knives, Derrick.

I'm looking forward to these. They don't scream barlow to me. However I love big bolsters and the lines on the knives are great. The production pic on the GEC site shows an osage with real dark looking bolsters before final polish. I think It'd be neat if they are steel, I find the shiny nickel silver bolster nice as well, but patina looks great.

Barlows based on regular jacks may be more common but barlows can also be based on curved jacks (like this one). Take a peek at Levine's Guide. I'm pretty sure there's a description in there.

Very, very, very excited about these... Anyone with one of the first run drop point single blades able to give a pull rating? (I realize there could be a difference between runs, just trying to get an idea) Thank you!
I'd say the pull is a solid 5. It can be pinched open no problem.

As with any single blade Northwoods, I'm in. I want the natural micarta and most likely the brown saw cut bone as well.

Nice to see you out here Derrick. I enjoy spending my money with someone that enjoys and stands behind their product(s). Your staff and business are hands down my favorite people and place to deal with in the "knife world." I thank you for that, just like you thank me everytime I order with that nice card.

Happy Holidays!

Is there a site that provides information about Northwoods knives productions? Curious to know where one can find info on the upcoming single blade Madison Barlows. Because I want one:thumbup:.

I think you are looking at the best source (this thread) as Derrick (okbohn) owns the trademark and sells them through his KnivesShipFree (KSF) business. The knives are manufactured by Great Eastern Cutlery. They will feature knives that are in the manufacturing process at their website. You can see pictures of many of the Northwoods line on the KSF website.

Thanks, found the "in production" link on the GEC webpage.

The Madison Barlow is a fantastic looking knife and just large enough to satisfy big knife people like myself. A real beauty of a folder. You've done well there.

I think I'm going to get a brown saw cut and maybe there natural micarta. If there as a green or denim micarta I would very happy. A jigged bone wouldnt be bad either.

I think you'll be happy if you like the size of the knife. I would recommend one of the KSF leather sleeves when you get one. This keeps it from getting all banged up in your pocket.

Not many knives nudge me toward buying them "just because" and the Madison is one of them.

All Northwoods come with a slip.

I am aware that KSF provides a leather sleeve currently with Northwood knives. But I prefer the open ended ones and would buy one of those if the knife does not come with one. The one blade Madisons came with a leather pouch/sleeve with a little tab.

During the last #44 sales, did they get sold out in minutes? Or did they hang around at KSF for a while?

Couple of weeks. The ivory an mammoth ivory's went real fast as in a couple days. The two blade version seemed to sell more slowly and some were available for months.
