NorthWoods Presidential?

I like the one in the picture that appears to be mammoth. I'd like to buy that one.

I seem to have a desire to buy traditional knives with mammoth ivory scales lately.

K.K.

Me too. I just ordered mine in mammoth. There are some real beauties still available in the mammoth ivory. This is a beautiful knife Derrick has designed....My first flat beveled bolster knife in my still nothing to brag about collection. I think that the price is quite good for a mammoth ivory knife of this quality.

This post turned out to be more divisive than I ever intended.

Withdrawn with apologies.

Is this related because of the blade rub mentioned earlier in the thread, or Northwoods in general? David Shirley no longer runs the Northwoods brand, and I don't think any issues with him should reflect on how it's run by Derrick now, unless of course you're saying you feel it's the same thing.

On his website, Derrick says straight out that there is some small blade rub on these because they are so thin. He's not trying to hide anything, he's letting people know before they order so if that's something they have a problem with, they won't order.

Yep, I am expecting the blade rub, but reality is This does not bother me. I have a pretty nice one on the way in Mammoth. Very much looking forward to it. Derrick is one of the good guys! Steven

This thread is about a Northwoods Knife with blade rub.

My anecdote is about Northwoods Knives with blade rub. That seems like connection enough to me.

It all happened before Knives Ship Free was involved, and has nothing to do with Derrick.

Derrick!!!

Will you please stop making knives in mammoth.

I had money saved/designated for the upcoming Fremonts in mammoth and I just spent it on one of these.

That being said, a Fremont in mammoth is a definite purchase.

K.K.

This was delivered today. I love the mammoth ivory, and the fit and finish are excellent.

Mine was supposedly delivered by USPS yesterday but there was nothing on my porch. I have a sneaking suspicion that I ran head-on into my Post Office's new trick of scanning any left-over packages at the Post Office as delivered, so as to stop the time clock on them. And then it gets delivered in a day or three. Sure scares me whenever it happens though (2 times so far), but I haven't completely lost a package yet.

A week ago I ordered a GEC from Derrick and checked the tracking and saw it went to the Portland distribution hub, cool a day and I will have it (live outside of Seattle). Next day no delivery, so I check the tracking and it is in Indiana. Was really worried that it was never to be seen, a few days later when I checked the tracking again it had hit Seattle. I guess the frequent travel miles were too good to pass up. In the end it arrived and all is well. Steven

Mine shows it should be delivered today but I am leaving directly from work to go turkey hunting for the weekend so I will have to wait until Sunday to enjoy it. What's that saying about absence making the heart grow fonder?

Here is my new Presidential. Just arrived about an hour ago.
My initial impressions -
It is really light.
This particular knife has no blade rub.
I thought that the pocket sheath that came with it was too large.
I substituted it with a small pocket sheath that I had and I would call it perfect!
The mammoth ivory on this one is beautiful!

Can't wait to put it through its paces.
